As a devoted fan, I’ve been disappointed to witness the suboptimal performance of “Rise of the Ronin” on PC, prompting Team Ninja to extend an apology to its community. Though they are diligently working on a patch to rectify these issues, some fans find these recurring problems with PC ports from Team Ninja to be concerning and far too frequent.
Initially debuting as an exclusive for PlayStation 5 in March 2024, the action-RPG Rise of the Ronin made its PC debut on March 10, 2025. The game’s initial release on consoles was met with largely favorable feedback from both critics and enthusiasts. Its engaging elements and user-friendly combat were lauded, while some criticisms focused on its graphical constraints that slightly hindered its overall impact.
It appears that troubles with the PC version of “Rise of the Ronin” have made existing graphical and performance issues more noticeable, as well as introducing some new ones. In recognition of these difficulties, Team Ninja has issued a public apology to players via their Twitter account, stating, “We deeply apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced.” Players have since reported various problems such as high CPU usage and textures taking up to 10 seconds to load correctly. A patch is scheduled for release on April 10 to rectify the PC version’s performance issues.
Rise of the Ronin Devs Respond to PC Port Complaints
For enthusiasts of Team Ninja’s collection of games, the problems with the PC port are indicative of an ongoing concern. As far back as 2023, players started to give negative reviews en masse to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, due to a multitude of bugs that were particularly prevalent in the PC version of the game. The ripple effects from this initial wave of negative reviews are still being felt, as the PC version continues to receive mostly unfavorable feedback.

Approximately a year ago, gamers encountered similar performance problems with the PC version of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, including issues with render distance, pixelated graphics, and decreased frame rates. Although the overall reception for this game was mixed across all platforms, the PC version’s average rating is slightly lower compared to its versions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The disparity isn’t nearly as significant as it is for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Some players even resorted to making their characters bald in an unusual attempt to enhance the game’s performance, addressing one of the game’s shortcomings.
