Summary
- TeamKill Media announced a new horror game, “Code Violet,” exclusively for the PS5, skipping PC and Xbox.
- Code Violet won’t have a PC release due to concerns about vulgar mods affecting characters and voice actors.
- The game will feature a female protagonist, Violet Sinclair, fighting creatures in the Aion Bioengineering Complex.
Have you heard about Quantum Error? It was a PS5-exclusive sci-fi horror game developed by TeamKill Media that came out in 2023. If not, it’s understandable since the game didn’t generate much buzz. However, the studio is working on a new project, which is another horror game called “Code Violet.
A third-person horror game has been recently unveiled, with the unique twist that its development is exclusively focusing on the PlayStation 5 at this moment; the versions for PC and Xbox Series X|S are not being considered yet.
Code Violet Devs Not A Fan Of Vulgar Mods
It appears that Code Violet isn’t coming out for PC primarily because the studio doesn’t want fans creating explicit or offensive modifications (mods) of the main and other game characters. This was shared on their Twitter/X platform.
In their announcement, TeamKill emphasizes that they hold their voice actors and actresses in great esteem, alongside their creative vision for the game and its narrative. They firmly oppose any modifications that could compromise this, specifically those of a sexual nature. The studio concludes by stating that undermining their artistic work, potentially damaging the reputations of their voice talent, is not a price they are willing to pay for additional income.
I must admit, I get their perspective. When a game goes digital, it becomes quite challenging to manage the content that the community generates. Given our game, Code Violet, with its strong female lead character, it’s almost certain that the community will quickly produce inappropriate content associated with it.
TeamKill’s Code Violet Is A Spiritual Successor To Dino Crisis
Here’s the info TeamKill Media has shared so far:
Code Violet, created by TeamKill Media, is a thrilling third-person action horror game. You assume the character of Violet Sinclair, a girl transported from the past, who navigates through the Aion Bioengineering Complex to unveil its secrets while evading, hiding or battling against the monsters that have taken over it. As evacuation procedures are activated, Violet’s primary objective is to break free from the complex and rescue her loved ones; however, with the creatures and a shadowy Director working tirelessly to thwart you, will you make it out alive?
Code Violet is set to be released on the PS5 in July 2025.
As a gamer enthusiast, I’m really looking forward to this new game being significantly superior to the Quantum Error. According to Open Critic, Quantum Error is currently rated as “Weak,” with only 13% of reviewers suggesting it. Here’s hoping for a fresh and engaging experience with the upcoming title!
