As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’m thrilled to see the latest update for Tekken 8 bringing in new content and improvements. The addition of Lidia Sobieska as a playable character and the stunning Seaside Resort stage really add to the game’s already impressive roster and visual appeal.

The new update for Tekken 8 is now available, introducing Lidia Sobieska as a DLC fighter, a Photo Mode, and several other new features and enhancements. Launched in January to widespread acclaim, this latest installment in Bandai Namco’s 3D fighting game series has been praised for its stunning graphics and increased aggression. The developers have continued to refine the game post-launch through regular updates, as well as adding popular returning fighters to the already impressive roster.

In the debut of Tekken 8’s DLC characters, Eddy Gordo returned to the fray in April. More recently, two other figures from previous games have been announced for Tekken 8. Among them is Lidia Sobieska from Tekken 7. As shown in a recent gameplay trailer for Tekken 8, Lidia continues to employ her traditional karate techniques to combat evil and seek vengeance for her father’s untimely death caused by a devastating terrorist attack.

As a dedicated fan of the Tekken series since its early days, I was thrilled to learn about Update 1.06 for Tekken 8. After eagerly anticipating this new addition for weeks, I was a bit dismayed when the game’s servers went down for a few hours on July 22. But my excitement quickly returned as I heard that Lidia Sobieska, the latest playable character, would be available to those who purchased the Tekken 8 Playable Character Year 1 Pass in Early Access.

Tekken 8 Update 1.06 Adds Lidia Sobieska, New Stage, And Photo Mode

In the Item Shop of “Tekken 8,” you’ll find fresh additions like the “TEKKEN Fight Pass – Round 2” battle pass. This new feature offers daily and weekly missions to be completed during online matches, allowing players to unlock items and accumulate Tekken Coins. Additionally, exciting new costumes such as the “Celebrity Pack” and “Vacation Pack” are up for grabs for every playable character.

To put it simply, the latest enhancement for Tekken 8 includes refinements and error resolutions for Tekken Ball, Special Style, and “My Replay and Tips” modes. Further updates and adjustments are planned, including the upcoming story-based DLC. Bandi Namco aims to maintain excitement around Tekken 8 throughout 2024 and beyond by releasing more content and collaborating on projects like the Nike crossover. The game surpassed two million sales in its initial month, as announced in February of 2024.

Update Details

72-hour early access made available to owners of the Playable Character Year 1 Pass. Playable Character Year 1 Pass is included in the following:
- ‘TEKKEN 8 Deluxe Edition Upgrade Pack’
- ‘TEKKEN 8 Ultimate Edition’
- ‘TEKKEN 8 Deluxe Edition’
New battle stage ‘SEASIDE RESORT’ added
- A beachside resort-themed battle stage will be added for free.
New feature ‘PHOTO MODE’ added
- New features will be added to capture battle moments more attractively, including free angle control, various functions, and filters.
New items added to the TEKKEN SHOP
- New battle pass ‘TEKKEN Fight Pass -Round 2’
- During the specified period, players can increase their level by completing daily and weekly missions in online matches, allowing them to obtain various items.
- In “ROUND 2”, missions will be added to make leveling up easier even for players who do not frequently engage in online battles.
- In “ROUND 2”, leveling up in “FREE” grants “100 TEKKEN COINS”.
- By obtaining “PREMIUM”, which allows you to acquire more items than “FREE”, and leveling up, you can earn up to “600 TEKKEN COINS” from “PREMIUM” in addition to the “100 TEKKEN COINS” from “FREE”, for a total of “700 TEKKEN COINS”.
- The “TEKKEN COINS” you have earned can be exchanged for various items in the “TEKKEN SHOP”.
New costume packs ‘Celebrity Pack’ and ‘Vacation Pack’ will be available for each playable characters.

- Improved ‘TEKKEN BALL’ to allow practice of TEKKEN BALL while waiting for online matching.
- Changed the ball return behavior in ‘TEKKEN BALL’ when using item techniques.
- Improved ‘Special Style’ to allow execution of ‘Specialty Move’ and ‘Air Combo’ from a crouching position.
- In ‘MY REPLAY & TIPS’, modified so that the countdown timer does not count down while the round timer is stopped due to actions like Rage Arts when the character is controllable.
- Other miscellaneous improvements and bug fixes were implemented.

Scope of Update

The application of the update data will result in the following impact on each mode and feature.
- ‘DOWNLOADED REPLAYS’, ‘MY REPLAY & TIPS’: Replay data from before the update will be unavailable for playback.
- ‘ONLINE REPLAY’: Replay data from before the update will be deleted.
- ‘SUPER GHOST BATTLE’, ‘GHOST MATCH’: Character behavior and move properties will reflect that of the post-update state.
