The latest update for Tekken 8 (version 2.06.01) is available now! Bandai Namco has added a bunch of improvements to how the game plays, new items in the shop, and a new playable character: Armor King. If you have the Season 2 Character Pass, you can start playing as Armor King immediately. Otherwise, he’ll be available for everyone on October 16th.
Launched in early 2024, *Tekken 8* initially impressed players with enhanced fighting features and new gameplay mechanics, earning widespread praise. However, the game’s Season 2 launch was plagued with problems, leading many fans to stop playing until significant issues were addressed. These included imbalances and glitches that made the game unplayable, requiring quick fixes from the developers. Fortunately, those fixes have helped *Tekken 8* regain popularity, currently holding an average score of 90 on OpenCritic, although reviews on Steam are still considered mixed.
Bandai Namco recently released patch notes for *Tekken 8* Version 2.06.01, and the biggest news is the addition of Armor King as a playable character! He’s a classic fighter who first appeared in the original *Tekken*, and players with the Season 2 Character Pass can play as him right away. Everyone else can purchase him as downloadable content on October 16. The update also includes new costume packs – the Nightmare Jester Pack and the Whimsical Jester Pack – available in the Tekken Shop. Players can also buy the Round 7 Fight Pass, and the update fixes several issues with how characters behave in the game.
With the ongoing improvements to the game and its player experience, talk has started about a possible release of *Tekken 8* on the Nintendo Switch 2, which could bring the game to even more players. Although Nintendo hasn’t officially announced anything, the game’s director has said they’re interested in making it happen, even though it might be technically difficult, as it could be a good business move.
2025 was a fantastic year for fighting game fans, with exciting releases like *Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves*, continued support for *Street Fighter 6* through new downloadable content, and ongoing improvements to *Tekken 8*. Looking ahead to next year, we’re already seeing some interesting projects on the horizon, including a fighting game based on *Avatar: The Last Airbender* and *Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls*. However, we don’t have firm release dates for either of those titles yet.

- The behavior and performance adjustments applied to each character after the update will be reflected in ghost data.
- Ghost data will not be deleted.

PLAYABLE CHARACTERS
Character Move Behavior Fixes
- In V2.06, adjustments have been made primarily to hitboxes and collision detection to address unintended behaviors.
- Improvements have been made to sound effects, voiceovers, and visual effects to enhance overall quality.
In Version 2.00, some moves now work with both the new and old button combinations. This only affects King and Lee, as their moves weren’t previously tied to those older combinations.
