I’m so hyped! Bandai Namco just announced that Yujiro Hanma is coming to Tekken 8 in early 2027! It’s been awesome seeing the game get updated since it launched in 2024 – they’ve already added four characters through the season pass. It’s a really cool idea to release them with each new season, keeping things fresh and exciting!
The next downloadable character for Tekken 8, Kunimitsu, will be available in early access on May 27, 2026, with a full release on June 1, 2026. While Kunimitsu is a returning character, not all of the game’s downloadable characters are fan favorites from past Tekken games. The recent addition of Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy 16 demonstrates that Tekken 8 is open to including characters from other franchises for exciting crossover experiences.
Yujiro Hanma Joins the Tekken 8 Roster in 2027
Okay, so Bandai Namco just dropped a new trailer for Tekken 8, and it’s huge! They showed off all the DLC characters coming in Season 3, including one I definitely didn’t expect. We already knew Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. were on the way, but the big reveal is Yujiro Hanma! He’s the final character for the season. The release date is a little fuzzy – they’re saying early 2027, probably January or February. Since Kunimitsu is coming out in late spring, it sounds like Yujiro will likely be added towards the end of the season too. I’m hyped!

Yujiro Hanma is a character from the Baki series, where the main character, Baki, relentlessly trains to become strong enough to beat his father, Yujiro, in a fight. Known as the strongest creature on Earth, Yujiro is a formidable opponent, and it took Baki 40 episodes of intense training to even feel prepared to face him. The recent trailer for Tekken 8 focuses on dramatic cutscenes inspired by the manga and doesn’t show Yujiro in action. Fans are hoping Bandai Namco will soon release gameplay footage to demonstrate how Yujiro will play in the game.
The latest trailer for Tekken 8 announced Yujiro as a new playable character and revealed the next stage, called Subsea Lockdown. We only got a brief glimpse of the new stage at the end of the trailer. Tekken 8‘s Season 3 launch received criticism from players, specifically regarding changes to the Heat system. Bandai Namco quickly released a patch to address the feedback, which centered on concerns that adjustments to the Heat system reduced potential rewards.
