Fans have been waiting for this update since it was first announced in November 2022, as it has faced several delays. Re-Logic provided updates through their ‘State of the Game’ posts, initially suggesting a release between December 2025 and January 2026. They later confirmed in November 2025 that January was the more probable timeframe.
In their December 2025 game update, Re-Logic explained the reason for the recent delay of update 1.4.5 for Terraria. The delay wasn’t due to development issues, but rather the time it takes for console manufacturers and international partners to approve the update. While the builds were submitted in December, these approvals take time, especially during the busy holiday season. Re-Logic also wanted to avoid releasing the update right before Christmas, as they didn’t want to require their team to work through the holidays to fix any potential problems that might arise after launch.
