The 10 Best VR Games of 2025

Virtual reality gaming is getting more popular and affordable every year, and developers are constantly improving VR experiences for all types of gamers. With great games coming to headsets like the Meta Quest 3 and PlayStation VR 2 in 2025, and even more on the way with Valve’s new Steam Frame, VR is poised for significant growth. While some VR games might not receive as much attention as traditional games, they still deserve recognition from the gaming community.

Releasing VR games is becoming more common, but truly exceptional titles still manage to shine. The games on this list are special because they’ve not only become popular within the VR community, but have also gained recognition from a wider audience. Here’s a showcase of some of the best VR games of 2025, listed in alphabetical order.

Although 2025 brought popular first-person fantasy games like Avowed and the remastered Oblivion, Arken Age might have been overlooked. This VR game offers action and adventure in a unique world called the Bio-Chasm, which has been overtaken by plants and corrupted by a being known as the Grand Arborist. Players fight off plant-based enemies using both guns and swords powered by a special material called Arkenite, and can explore the open world thanks to the game’s realistic physics.

Developed by Cortopia Studios – the team behind 2020’s Down the Rabbit Hole – this game features fresh puzzles, beautifully detailed environments, and a variety of charming characters. If you’re looking for a fun and lighthearted VR experience in 2025, Escaping Wonderland is worth a look.

Ghost Town

Horror games are very popular in virtual reality, and Ghost Town is a standout title that VR fans shouldn’t miss. The game puts you in the role of Edith, a paranormal detective searching for her brother on a secluded Scottish island. With its suspenseful mood and challenging puzzles, Ghost Town feels like a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed The Room series from Fireproof Games.

Gorn 2

Similar to the first Gorn, Gorn 2 offers a fast-paced, funny, and violent virtual reality gladiator game. Players can use a wide variety of weapons to realistically dismember opponents – think brutal decapitations and severed limbs! Essentially, Gorn 2 takes the original Gorn and makes it much bigger and better, adding even more traps, power-ups, and enemies to fight.

Hitman: World of Assassination (PSVR2)

Check Out Hitman: World of Assassination on OpenCritic

I’ve been following Hitman: World of Assassination since it came out in 2021, and I’m so excited about how it’s evolved! They first brought a really cool VR experience to Meta Quest 3 with Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded in 2024, but the newest version for PSVR2 in 2025 is something else. Honestly, it feels like the best way to play the game so far. Being able to actually do things like manually reload and swipe key cards makes it way more immersive. They’ve also really streamlined the controls, and it just feels fantastic – this PSVR2 release is definitely the definitive VR experience for Hitman: World of Assassination in my opinion.

Lumines Arise

Following the success of the immersive VR game Tetris Effect in 2018, Monstars revisited this approach in 2025 with Lumines Arise. Similar to Tetris Effect, Lumines Arise takes the core puzzle gameplay of Lumines and blends it with vibrant, psychedelic visuals and music. This creates a captivating and relaxing experience where the puzzle pieces move in time with the soundtrack, making it easy to become completely absorbed in the game’s rich sensory world.

Marvel’s Deadpool VR

VR superhero games really shine, and Marvel’s Deadpool VR delivers exactly what fans want. You get to play as Deadpool himself, fighting a host of classic Marvel villains across different realities as he tries to round them up for a bizarre TV show. The action is fast-paced, the game nails Deadpool’s unique brand of humor, and the voice acting – with Neil Patrick Harris as Deadpool and John Leguizamo as Mojo – is fantastic.

The Midnight Walk

2025 saw some excellent horror games released for VR, and The Midnight Walk is a particularly charming addition to the genre. Its unique stop-motion animation style, reminiscent of Tim Burton’s work, creates a character named Potboy who is both unsettling and endearing. Potboy will help players navigate the dangers of this gloomy world. Though playable without VR, the experience is significantly improved by playing in virtual reality, making its short playtime all the more enjoyable.

Tetsuo’s Tower is the introductory episode to Path of Fury, a fast-paced, 80s-inspired VR beat ’em up. Tetsuo’s Tower challenges players to use skillful timing and precise attacks, and it’s physically demanding enough to provide a real workout!
