As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the magical world of gaming, I must say that December 2024 is shaping up to be an extraordinary month for PlayStation fans! With the addition of games like “Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy” and “Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves,” it feels as if I’ve been granted a ticket back in time to relive the golden age of gaming on my trusty PlayStation console.
From its early beginnings, even before Sony introduced the tiers, PS Plus has consistently been a top-tier service offering premium games on a superior console. This remained true even after the division into PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium, and it likely continues to be so now. The tiered subscription model of PS Plus ensures that every user gets good value for their money with Essential, enjoys a vast collection of games with PS Plus Extra, and can experience a dose of nostalgia with PS Plus Premium.
2024 has once again solidified my belief in the worth of PS Plus. From Essential to Extra and Premium, subscribers like myself have been spoiled with an incredible array of games. Some truly shine as the cream of the crop, and the top-tier games provided by PS Plus this year are undeniably some of the finest in the gaming industry. Here’s a list of these exceptional titles, arranged chronologically based on when they were added to PS Plus in 2024:

Many people believe that January sets the pace for the entire year, and if nothing else, playing top-notch games on PS Plus is an amazing beginning to any year. Here’s hoping that PS Plus repeats this in January 2025 as well.
Resident Evil 2 (PS Plus Extra – January 2024)

Capcom consistently excels at creating remakes that match or surpass the original versions, setting a challenging standard. They truly outdid themselves with their 2019 version of Resident Evil 2, a testament to what PS Plus membership provides. In 2024, PS Plus subscribers were treated to top-notch games, and Resident Evil 2 stands as a symbol of the quality offerings that PS Plus delivers.

A year before the launch of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, players were given an early treat by diving into the expansive world of “AC Valhalla” through PS Plus. The game is overflowing with content and offers a captivating main story that has significant impacts on the series’ future. Playing “AC Valhalla” on PS Plus not only provided a thrilling gaming experience but also set a positive tone for the year ahead, making January a memorable month.
Sifu (PS Plus Essential – March 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Sifu Review
Without a doubt, Sloclap’s game, Sifu, showcases stunning visuals that perfectly complement its martial arts-centered combats. The aging mechanic in Sifu is top-notch among roguelike games, offering an engaging experience both in combat and overall gameplay. The story of Sifu is rich with depth and character development, making it one of the standout titles of 2022. Thanks to PS Plus, starting from 2024, there’s no reason not to give this fantastic game a try!
Dave The Diver (PS Plus Extra – April 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Dave the Diver Review
On the same day as its launch, Dave the Diver’s PS4/PS5 version was made available for PS Plus Extra members, thereby joining the service on its debut day. The game’s rapid rise to fame can be attributed in part to its engaging action-adventure and management mechanics. Having it offered as a day one release on PS Plus not only enhances the game’s legacy but also strengthens the subscription service. It’s worth noting that Dave the Diver was the third most popular PS Plus Extra game at that time, following closely behind Stray and GTA 5.
Animal Well (PS Plus Extra – May 2024)

Animal Well” is an outstanding platform game brimming with enigmas, riddles, and more. On the surface, it appears compact and uncomplicated; however, beneath this facade lies a depth comparable to any well or game. The gaming experience offers entertaining skills, employs environmental storytelling to guide the player, and features innovative puzzles and platforming elements. In essence, “Animal Well” is one of those games that everyone should try, and thanks to PS Plus, this opportunity is extended to all.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS Plus Extra – May 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Red Dead Redemption 2 Review
Since Rockstar first introduced it years ago, Red Dead Redemption 2 has solidified its status as a timeless classic. Even today, the game is still worth every penny of its original price, making it an outstanding deal to acquire through services like PS Plus Extra. The combination of PS Plus Extra and Red Dead 2 offers an unparalleled gaming experience, with the former providing even more opportunities to enjoy this exceptional title, while the latter underscores the undeniable value of PS Plus Extra. In May alone, Red Dead 2 wasn’t the only standout game added to PS Plus Extra.
Tunic (PS Plus Essential – May 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Tunic Review
Sometimes, the most enjoyable games are those that seem straightforward yet have hidden depths. At first glance, Tunic looks like a typical Zelda-style action-adventure game, but beneath its unassuming exterior lies challenging combat and intricate puzzles. Despite its apparent simplicity, it’s deceptively complex, offering a challenge for players to unravel. Tunic is an outstanding indie game, and it’s simply fantastic overall. Having it as part of PS Plus means everyone gets to play it and win.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS Plus Extra – August 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Witcher 3 Review
As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but sing the praises of The Witcher 3. This game needs no introduction; wherever it shows up, it’s an instant hit—and that’s saying something even with the stellar lineup offered by PS Plus. The captivating narrative of Geralt and Ciri is a testament to the heights the gaming industry can reach, and securing access to this masterpiece through PS Plus is a dream come true for newcomers, fans who’ve only experienced the Netflix series, or those yearning for a revisit.
Dead Space (PS Plus Essential – October 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Dead Space Review
Should any horror remake challenge Capcom’s dominance, EA Motive’s Dead Space could do just that. The terror of the original remains intact, yet the game is brimming with numerous upgrades. With it being available on PS Plus, even more gamers will encounter the chilling experience of Dead Space, which benefits everyone involved. Notably, it joined PS Plus Essential in October.
WWE 2K24 (PS Plus Essential – October 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s WWE 2K24 Review
Reflecting on its past, it’s possible that the rocky debut of WWE 2K20 served as a catalyst for significant improvements within the franchise. The troubled release of 2K20 paved the way for the successful launch of WWE 2K22, and since then, each subsequent installment – including WWE 2K23 and WWE 2K24 – has set even higher standards. This progression has generated a great deal of excitement for the upcoming WWE 2K25. Moreover, playing WWE 2K24 as part of a PS Plus subscription offers an exceptional experience, blending a fantastic game with a fantastic subscription service.
Grand Theft Auto 5 (PS Plus Extra – November 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s Grand Theft Auto 5 Review
Grand Theft Auto V, even today, continues to be one of the highest-grossing entertainment items ever sold. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t given it a spin, but for those who are curious or wish to revisit their adventures, it remains a great choice. Keep an eye out for it as it occasionally appears in sales charts. Previously, it has been available on PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass, and with the excitement building for GTA 6, its return to PS Plus is bound to keep Rockstar Games in the spotlight (though that’s hardly necessary).
It Takes Two (PS Plus Essential – December 2024)
Check Out Game Rant’s It Takes Two Review
2024 at The Game Awards, I was thrilled when Josef Fares unveiled Hazelight’s upcoming masterpiece, “Split Fiction.” This sequel to their groundbreaking game, “It Takes Two,” has been generating immense excitement since it won the GOTY award at last year’s event. And let me tell you, after witnessing the captivating trailers, I can see why! If you haven’t already, playing “It Takes Two” is a fantastic way to gear up for the release of “Split Fiction.” Luckily, with PS Plus, getting your hands on “It Takes Two” couldn’t be easier!
Jak And Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (PS Plus Premium – December 2024)
Check Out Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy on Metacritic
There’s no match for the nostalgia trip provided by Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. This game launched an entire franchise that saw Jak and Daxter transform into heroic characters, and its development from a basic platformer to a sophisticated one featuring distinctive weapons and abilities is quite remarkable in the context of gaming history. Whether you’re experiencing it for the first time or the hundredth, PS Plus finishes the year impressively with this title as part of its offering.
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (PS Plus Premium – December 2024)
Check Out Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves on Metacritic
Reaching the same heartfelt high points as Jak and Daxter, Sly 3 stands out. They both hark back to the golden era of PlayStation games, with Sly 3 being a stealth platformer in contrast to Jak’s shooting platformer. To put it simply, PS Plus is stirring fond memories for fans of PlayStation’s iconic characters. Each new addition to PS Plus in December 2024 suggests that the service is going out with a big celebration.
