Shimoneta is a funny and clever anime that both parodies and embodies the tropes of dystopian fiction. It’s intentionally over-the-top, but fully commits to its ridiculous premise, never holding back. This dedication shines through in the show’s jokes, scenarios, and how the characters grow. While Ayame is a solid protagonist, the real standout is Anna, the student council president, whose story takes some wonderfully unexpected turns.

This version uses sarcastic and often inappropriate humor, portraying the six brothers as unemployed and unproductive adults who mostly just goof off. It’s worth noting that they’re also surrounded by people who are fairly self-centered.

You don’t need to have seen the original series to enjoy Mr. Osomatsu – the characters are funny enough on their own. It’s worth noting that these brothers are intentionally terrible people, and the show doesn’t shy away from that, often showing them facing consequences for their actions. Packed with jokes, spoofs, and over-the-top situations, Mr. Osomatsu is wonderfully chaotic and unpredictable.

The first season of the anime is excellent, but the quality declines in later seasons. While seasons two and three, plus the movie, are decent, season four isn’t very good.

Though, I have to admit, the second season didn’t quite live up to the brilliance of the first. And while Saitama is seriously one of the funniest characters I’ve ever seen in anime, I felt like his amazing presence diminished a little as the story went on.

A Forgotten Comedy Classic That Needs To Be Made Readily Available

Does anyone else remember this anime? I can’t be the only one who enjoyed it! From Today, It’s My Turn!! is a pretty rare OVA series from the 90s and can be hard to find now, but it’s definitely worth the effort. The story follows Takashi and Shinji, two high school students hoping for a new beginning. They both decide to change their image by acting like rebels, but they immediately clash. Shinji is serious and reserved, while Takashi is full of chaotic energy, like something out of a Looney Tunes cartoon. Eventually, they realize they’re stuck with each other and grudgingly team up.

From Today, It’s My Turn!! is a really fun show! While it’s not always focused on making you laugh, every episode is packed with humor, and most of the jokes are genuinely funny. The last episode is especially hilarious, as it throws the characters into a situation with the Yakuza, which is a surprising twist that many similar anime avoid.
