The Best High-Damage Gunlance Build for Monster Hunter Now

The Best High-Damage Gunlance Build for Monster Hunter Now

As a seasoned hunter with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this build is a game-changer for the Gunlance wielder! The Driftsmelt Slots not only make the build more versatile but also accessible to players at lower weapon ranks.

Initially, not all weapons were available when Monster Hunter Now was first released, but the Gunlance weapon followed shortly thereafter. Combining both defense and offense, these weapons are ideal for players who enjoy getting close to monsters while still packing a punch. This build guide maximizes all of its unique characteristics.

Having said that, there are so many Monster Hunter Now monster parts that you need to get in order to put together the very best Gunlance build, and it’s not just for the main weapon. Some of the monsters featured here are high-value targets, but this build is catered toward targets that are more commonly found outside of special events. Therefore, while Magnamalo and Coral Pukei-Pukei might be rarer hunts, you’ll also be hunting Diablos and Banbaro to complete this set. Here is the best high-damage Gunlance build, complete with options for all the available Driftsmelt slots.

Best Monster Hunter Now Gunlance Build

The Best High-Damage Gunlance Build for Monster Hunter Now

The best weapon for a Monster Hunter Now Gunlance build is the Sinister Gunlance. This is a long shelling Blast-element weapon with the Partbreaker ability available at Grade 8, which helps increase the part damage it deals to breakable parts. The Blast-element slowly builds up over time, before erupting to deal a huge amount of damage all at once to the monster, reducing its health significantly, and thus making tougher hunts a little easier. The downside of this build is that it does require you to hunt many Magnamalos for the weapon, and several other armor parts also require tracking down Monster Hunter Rise‘s flagship beast multiple times. Thankfully, you can track this monster via the Paintball Tracker.

Given that we’ve already secured a boost in Partbreaker, let’s push it further, also enhancing Weakness Exploit. This will significantly increase the chances of detonating with your Blast element when you strike a monster’s vulnerable point. Lock On will aid in focusing on specific weak spots, thereby ensuring the alignment of the previously mentioned affinity synergy.

In this Monster Hunter Now Gunlance build, the ability to exploit weaknesses tends to develop a bit later than other skills. For instance, enhancing Blast Attack with a few points from the Vambraces expedites the accumulation of the Blast effect. Skills like Sneak Attack, Offensive Guard, and Concentration are beneficial since they provide additional ways to inflict damage, boost your affinity under different circumstances, or fill up your Special meter rapidly.
