The ideal strategy for battling Rogue Mega Slowbro, Camerupt, and Victreebel depends on your Pokémon team, their levels, and if you have the Mega Stones to evolve your own Pokémon. Having a Mega Evolution is especially helpful, because defeating a rogue Mega Evolution can be very difficult without one. Before starting the battle, make sure you have a Mega Evolution that can exploit a weakness of one of the enemy Pokémon.
- Mega Slowbro is weak against Bug, Ghost, Grass, Electric, and Dark-type attacks.
- Mega Camerupt is weak against Ground and Water-type attacks, with a 4x weakness to Water.
- Mega Victreebel is weak against Flying, Fire, Psychic, and Ice-type attacks.
Before battling a powerful, unexpectedly evolved Pokémon, double-check your Pokémon’s moves to make sure they have the best attacks to exploit the opponent’s weaknesses. You can adjust your Pokémon’s attacks through the main menu.

Fortunately, *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* gives players a Mega Stone for their starter Pokemon right before they make a crucial decision. So, if your starter is already at its final stage, choose based on that evolution. If you chose Slowbro as your starter, battle Mega Slowbro first. Victreebel players should start with Mega Victreebel, and Camerupt players should go straight for Mega Camerupt. If your starter isn’t fully evolved, this strategy won’t work, but don’t worry too much about it!

After completing Main Mission 9, players will have a starter Pokémon and the Absolite, allowing them to Mega Evolve it. Mega Absol is a Dark-type, giving it an advantage against Mega Slowbro. Defeating each of the rogue Mega Evolutions unlocks its corresponding Mega Stone, making the remaining battles easier. This creates a cycle where Mega Slowbro is strong against Mega Camerupt, and Mega Camerupt is strong against Mega Victreebel.
If players choose to battle the rogue Mega Evolutions in a different sequence, Mega Slowbro’s Psychic attacks are very effective against Mega Victreebel, and Mega Victreebel’s Grass-type attacks work well against Mega Slowbro.
The Best Order to Fight Mega Slowbro, Camerupt, and Victreebel
- Use Mega Absol’s Dark-type attacks to beat Rogue Mega Slowbro.
- Catch an Alpha Slowbro in Wild Zone 11 or catch a in Wild Zone 10 or 11 and evolve it at level 37.
- Use Mega Slowbro’s Water-type attacks to beat Rogue Mega Camerupt.
- Catch an Alpha Camerupt in Wild Zone 8 or catch a in Wild Zone 8 and evolve it at level 33.
- Use Mega Camerupt’s Fire-type attacks to beat Rogue Mega Victreebel. Alternatively, players can skip step four and use Mega Slowbro to beat Rogue Mega Victreebel, if they like.

If you lose during a battle with a rogue mega evolution, you can choose to keep fighting from where you stopped, letting you try to win through sheer power. However, this isn’t the best strategy. Battles against these powerful opponents take much longer if you don’t use a mega evolution of your own to exploit their weaknesses.
