Death Stranding 2: Shores Reunited
In this sequel, our protagonist, Sam, finds himself in seclusion with his adopted daughter, Lou, within a bunker. A mysterious figure named Fragile pays him a visit, proposing an assignment to reestablish the connection between Mexico and Australia to the Chiral Network. In the original game, Sam’s mission was to restore links across the entire United States.
It appears that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach might seem like just another package delivery game set in a post-apocalyptic world. But don’t be fooled, Sam’s journey will prove to be far from simple. Notably, Death Stranding 2 offers some standout quotes for a Hideo Kojima game, so here are a few of the most memorable ones.
Spoilers Ahead for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
8. “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”
Sam

As I navigate through this digital world, “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” by B.J. Thomas seems to be a tune that frequently echoes, adding an extra layer of ambiance to my gaming adventure. It initially plays during the opening scene where Sam is preparing a meal for Lou, and then resurfaces when I encounter Rainy, the character who has the power to manipulate rainfall.
In a lovely harmony, the most enchanting moment of the song unfolds as Rainy combs through Tomorrow’s hair while they both hum along. However, when Sam attempts to join in, his out-of-tune vocals give them quite a surprise.
7. “Now That I Think About It, I Recall Seeing Something On Your Door Just Now…”
Dollman

In “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” there are numerous Easter Eggs hidden throughout the game, some discovered while interacting with Dollman and others when the character Sam takes a rest. For instance, if players choose to sleep on the DHV Magellan ship voluntarily, a specific Easter Egg will appear at random.
In this scenario, Dollman narrates a spine-chilling ghost tale featuring paper dolls, paper vessels, and vindictive Taro specters. The story concludes as the camera focuses closely on a paper doll labeled with Sam’s name just before Sam jolts awake from a sudden shock.
6. “Suffer, Rue The Day You Were Born”
Higgs

In the games, Higgs portrays a flamboyant antagonist, known for his witty dialogue. A particularly dramatic scene occurs near the end of the second game, “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”, where he ensnares the protagonist, Sam, in an endless loop of death and resurrection using his enchanted guitar that perpetually blazes with eternal flames.
Experiencing something more agonizing than death itself, Higgs finds great delight in Sam’s tribulations, humorously breaking the fourth wall by singing “BB’s Theme” from the initial game, creating a moment that slightly blurs reality and fiction.
5. “Death Can’t Tear Us Apart”
Deadman

In the beginning of the game, a holographic message from Deadman unexpectedly appears before Sam, revealing that he has chosen to spend eternity at his seaside sanctuary. During numerous encounters with Higgs or his spectral mechanical minions, Sam is repeatedly saved by a towering silent ninja cyborg who remains unyieldingly mysterious.
In the climactic stages of the mission, Deadman discloses that he had been the cyborg’s occupant all along, using his consciousness from The Beach to operate a Ghost Mech. As he splits a bridge in half, he delivers this revelation, enabling Sam to flee. This moment is not only pivotal but also adds an exciting touch to the game.
4. “They Don’t Call Me Die-Hardman For Nothing”
Die-Hardman

In the quirky world of “Death Stranding,” Die-Hardman certainly made a striking impression. Initially, it appears as though this character may not feature in the sequel, “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.” However, all that changes when he comes to the rescue, freeing Sam from an endless beach that was intended for him to be trapped by The President.
Later on, he gives a sly wink towards the camera, acknowledging the viewers with a nod to the fourth wall. He comments that he is tough to eliminate, which is followed by a chapter title “Die Hard.” This moment is an unmistakable nod to Hideo Kojima’s audience if there ever was one.
3. “Good God!”
Die-Hardman

In the game “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” the tune known as “BB’s Theme” makes a recurring appearance. This song was initially created by Jenny Plant and Ludvig Forssell for the initial game. In different scenes throughout the story, Higgs uses it to tease Sam. However, the most spine-tingling and awesome rendition occurs just prior to Die-Hardman’s introduction to the player.
In a surprising twist, he initially shows up as a mannequin named Charlie, humming a version of “BB’s Theme,” before suddenly morphing into his human form. His dance moves, reminiscent of a K-pop performance, are electrifying. He throws in a few unexpected lines such as “‘Good God’” that add to the peculiarity, making it perfectly suitable for a game by Kojima.
2. “DHV Magellan Integrate!”
Heartman

Amidst Sam and Higgs’ intense final showdown, my heart races as our crew aboard the DHV Magellan faces a swarm of monstrously-sized BTs. These beasts are giving us one heck of a run for our money! Just when I thought we were doomed, Deadman strikes with an ingenious plan – taking control of one of these colossal creatures! The real showstopper comes next: Deadman hoists the DHV Magellan onto the back of the BT, and Heartman bellows out this unforgettable line.
This scene bears a resemblance to Guillermo del Toro’s movie “Pacific Rim,” but with an increased dose of terror. It’s quite thrilling, and there’s even a hint of the quirky style that Kojima is known for, making it even more extraordinary.
1. “We’ll Always Be Connected”
Tomorrow

In the gripping tale of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” one of the most impactful surprises revolves around an early incident that seems to claim Lou’s life, leaving a deep mark on Sam and undoubtedly many other viewers who dislike such tragic events involving children in their entertainment.
It’s interesting to note that the girl Sam saves in another realm tomorrow, turns out to be Lou, who had grown older upon crossing over. Once this truth comes to light, Sam and Tomorrow share an embrace, making for a touching conclusion to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, despite there being more of the story left to unfold afterward.
