Key Takeaways
- Revenant weapons in Destiny 2 are not craftable this season but can be enhanced.
- The selection of Revenant weapons includes sidearms, hand cannons, shotguns, and pulse rifles with unique perks.
- Not all Revenant weapons are worth grinding for due to limited effectiveness compared to existing meta weapons.
As someone who’s spent countless hours blasting enemies into oblivion, I can confidently say that these Revenant weapons are not to be trifled with! Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up.
In Destiny 2, it’s been announced that for the first time in a while, players won’t be able to craft the seasonal weapons. However, upon examining the perks and types of weapons available, this might not be entirely disappointing. Although these Revenant weapons align aesthetically with the season’s theme, their effectiveness is yet to be determined.
That said, there are a few Revenant weapons to be slightly excited about, and they might be enough to push players to grind them in the renewed Onslaught activity. Keep in mind that although these weapons cannot be crafted, a good roll combination can be enhanced once players get lucky enough. They also come with a new Origin Trait, Dark Ether Reaper, which spawns an Ether puff that can be shot for an explosion and will refill the weapon’s magazine from reserves. The weapons are ranked according to how good their archetypes are, their perk pools, and how well they might hold up against other similar, existing weapons in the sandbox.
This is an early ranking of the weapons, and the god rolls are recommendations/estimations.
10 Insurmountable
Void Sidearm
- God Roll: Repulsor Brace & Destabilizing Rounds
Rocket sidearms have been dominating the meta, but a regular sidearm? It easily sits at the bottom of this ranking. Insurmountable is a basic Void sidearm, and brings very little to the table. Regular sidearms still need quite a bit of help in the game’s sandbox.
If you’re someone who takes pleasure in wielding sidearms, they could potentially complement any Void-focused builds effectively. This is due to the combination of their Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds traits.
9 Exuviae
Stasis 120 RPM Hand Cannon
- God Roll: Rimestealer & Headstone
Hand cannons are typically effective, but their performance significantly varies based on their Rate of Fire Per Minute (RPM). In your scenario, Exuviae has a 120 RPM rate, which isn’t the common, highly favored 140 RPM found in many top-tier picks. Consequently, it falls slightly behind in this particular ranking due to its less conventional RPM.
Even though it might not seem obvious at first glance, the pairing of Stasis: Headstone and Rimestealer offers an intriguing set of benefits. These two abilities work well together because Headstone generates a Stasis Crystal after precision kills, while Rimestealer provides Frost Armor when destroying a crystal. Could this be a hidden power? Time will tell.
8 Scavenger’s Fate
Void Shotgun
- God Roll: Slideshot & Vorpal Weapon/Surrounded
Among the impressive shotguns in the game, none truly contest their dominance, and Scavenger’s Fate doesn’t quite match up. The Void Shotgun provides a decent array of perks, but compared to other weapons, it isn’t particularly noteworthy. It occupies an essential energy weapon slot that could be used more effectively by Indebted Kindness or Aberrant Action.
If you’re in search of a Void shotgun that you missed out on, there are some intriguing perk combinations worth checking out. Slideshot is essential because it expedites reloading and slightly enhances the gun’s performance. You can choose to complement it with either Vorpal Weapon or Surrounded, based on your preference or the specific circumstances at hand.
7 Vantage Point
Arc Pulse Rifle
- God Roll: Closing Time & Jolting Feedback
From a favorable perspective, Vantage Point could be considered an acceptable blueprint, as pulse rifles are gradually reappearing in the realm of Exotics. However, due to its extremely feeble perk collection, it doesn’t climb much above the moderately warm midfield.
The first column of benefits doesn’t offer many standout choices. In contrast, Jolting Feedback stands out in the second one as an excellent choice, while the others are merely acceptable. If you’re searching for an Arc pulse rifle, it’s a good find, but not something to expend much effort on.
6 Noxious Vetiver
Arc Submachine Gun
- God Roll: Puglist/Unrelenting & Frenzy/Jolting Feedback
Currently, Submachine Guns (SMGs) are used less frequently due to a shift in the game’s strategy, which causes Noxious Vetiver to rank lower among them. The introduction of an Arc SMG might be intriguing, but it struggles to rival weapons like the Ikelos SMG or Subjunctive in terms of effectiveness.
One distinctive feature that sets it apart is the Jolting Feedback mechanism, which appears simpler to utilize compared to the Voltshot, as the latter necessitates players to recharge the weapon before delivering a Jolt effect upon striking an enemy in their subsequent attack.
5 Red Tape
Stasis Scout Rifle
- God Roll: Rimestealer & Headstone
Despite Bungie’s continuous efforts to make scout rifles more appealing, they often fall short compared to other weapon types in the PVE environment, with limited scenarios where these long-range weapons are actually preferred over others, especially within the dynamic battlefield of Destiny 2, which is a major factor hindering their popularity.
This Stasis scout rifle shares the same perk combination as Exuviae, which could make it a hidden favorite now that Frost Armor is known to be one of the strongest defensive boosts in the game. For now, it finds a comfortable spot in the mid to high tier rankings, but only time will reveal its true potential.
4 Heretic’s Fervor
Stasis Rocket Launcher
- God Roll: Auto-Loading & Frenzy
Located in the mid-tier bracket, you’ll find Heretic’s Fervor – a Stasis rocket launcher that could catch some by surprise. This weapon stands out due to its Auto-Loading Holster feature, which is always welcomed by players seeking fresh boss DPS weapons for enjoyable gameplay.
In the ‘Second Perk’ section, you’ll find a few choices. Among them, Frenzy offers a 15% damage boost while in battle, which is quite beneficial. However, Bipod is another option that could be advantageous in scenarios requiring a larger ammo supply and extended DPS duration. Nevertheless, it’s still early to make a definitive judgment. In summary, the perks are quite promising, and this weapon seems to belong among the top choices within the Revenant lineup.
3 Sovereignty
Void Sniper Rifle
- God Roll: Enlightened Action & Precision Instrument/Firing Line
In recent times, sniper rifles have been increasingly popular, and the appearance of the Void sniper rifle in the world drop Fugue suggests it’s here to stay. Its potential to fit seamlessly into a Damage Per Second (DPS) sequence is promising, especially with additional perks like Enlightened Action at your disposal.
If you can’t stand close to your allies, choose Precision Instrument. However, if you and your teammates can remain in the same area for a damage bonus, select Firing Line instead.
2 Bitter/Sweet
Arc Heavy Grenade Launcher
- God Roll: Envious Arsenal & Bait and Switch
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my admiration for the formidable Bitter/Sweet grenade launcher when it comes to Revenant. This heavyweight weapon carries two potent abilities: Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch. The latter has been a staple in DPS weapons for quite some time, earning its reputation from legendary weapons like the Cataclysmic linear fusion rifle and other Vow of the Disciple armaments.
The initial weapon swaps function similarly to an Auto-Loading Holster, adding a twist of Bait and Switch. It deals damage with the other two weapons and automatically reloads ammo when players perform this action. If successful, the Bitter/Sweet combination could be an intriguing experiment, although it remains to be seen if it can surpass Edge Transit and Cataphract in efficiency.
1 Liturgy
Stasis Grenade Launcher
- God Roll: Rimestealer & Chill Clip
At the peak of the list is the recently introduced Liturgy, which takes the Kinetic slot. Similar to the popular Wilderflight from the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, it’s a dual-purpose grenade launcher, capable of both Fire frames and Disorienting Grenades (it’s not recommended to use Disorienting Grenades alongside Rimestealer; opt for Implosion Rounds instead).
This weapon, namely Rimestealer, is an excellent choice for any Stasis-based builds. It provides Frost Armor to players when they shatter Stasis crystals or eliminate frozen enemies using Liturgy. Chill Clip, a great feature, slows down targets, but Lead from Gold can serve as an alternative for improved ammo management. Regardless of the choice, this is definitely one weapon you should aim to acquire from Onslaught in this episode. Since it’s located in the Kinetic slot, there’s still space for a rocket sidearm in the energy slot.
