Last year, Secretlab introduced a Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary edition of their Titan Evo chairs, inspired by the popular action game. In anticipation of the release of Monster Hunter Rise, another one is coming soon. Fortunately, it’s the most impressive among the three available.
Currently, you can purchase the Arkveld Edition of Secretlab’s Titan Evo chair. This special edition was inspired by Arkveld, a massive, extinct, white monster from the game, known for its intimidating appearance and sharp claws. However, unlike its namesake, this chair is not fearsome but rather sleek. It features subtle flecks of white, grey, and blue, giving it a clean, modern look. A small Arkveld logo adorns the front, while the back showcases a more ominous interpretation of the monster.
In this redesigned chair, the intricate patterns and accents echo the scaly, dragon-like appearance of Arkveld wonderfully. Last year’s Fatalis and Rathalos Monster Hunter chairs from Secretlab didn’t have as strong an impact, primarily due to a lack of personalized detailing. However, with this latest design, Secretlab has truly hit the mark for me.
Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that the Secretlab Titan Evo isn’t just about aesthetics. For several years now, it has consistently ranked among our top picks for the best gaming chairs. It boasts comfort, accommodates various sizes, and is built to last. The standard Evo model is still reasonably affordable considering its quality, though the 2022 version carries a higher price tag than its predecessor.
The price for this particular chair hasn’t been set yet, but keep in mind that the Secretlab Titan Evo collaboration chairs typically cost a bit more. For instance, the Monster Hunter collaboration model from last year retailed at $624, which is $75 pricier than a standard Titan Evo chair selling for $549. The price gap may vary with sales, but if you’re drawn to the unique design of the collaboration chairs, you might find yourself paying a premium.
As much as I appreciate its charm, I must admit that Monster Hunter isn’t my cup of tea. Fortunately, I have some knowledgeable colleagues who are Monster Hunter enthusiasts. They had a look and shared their insights with me.
- “It’s really darn nice, ey.”
- “I need it.”
- “I would gladly beat it to death with a hammer and wear its pelt as pants.”
Confidently, I believe that last review was a favorable response, earning 10s from the PC Gamer team. If you’re searching for a new gaming chair and Secretlab has caught your eye, this seems like an ideal addition to enhance your enjoyment when you acquire Monster Hunter Rise later in the month. As someone who confesses to being skeptical about Monster Hunter, I too find myself intrigued.
