The Biggest 2026 Games Revealed At State Of Play

Sony’s February 2026 State of Play event was a pleasant surprise, packed with exciting reveals for PlayStation 5 games. We finally learned when several highly anticipated titles will arrive in 2026, including release dates for Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Darwin’s Paradox, and Beast of Reincarnation. Konami also made sure everyone remembered Silent Hill: Townfall and had a strong presence throughout the show. To top it off, the February 2026 lineup for PS Plus Extra looked particularly strong.

While everything shown was interesting, the biggest highlights of the State of Play were the new game announcements coming out this year or in the near future. Games like John Wick and Project Windless generated a lot of buzz, though they didn’t have confirmed release dates. However, several other games shown did announce 2026 release dates, or promised to launch within the next 10 months.

God of War: Sons of Sparta

You Can Play The 2026 God Of War Game NOW

It was a great surprise to see the announcement of a 2.5D God of War game. While rumors had been circulating, the way Sony released the prequel unexpectedly was a real highlight. The trailer cleverly built anticipation for a 2026 release, then revealed it would actually launch later. Moments like these make these events exciting to watch. They also announced a God of War Trilogy Remake, but with no release date or gameplay shown, it doesn’t seem likely to come out in 2026.

Unlike most games in the God of War series, Sons of Sparta is a 2D action-adventure game, similar to the Metroidvania style. Dead or Alive 6 Last Round

The Definitive Version Of Team Ninja’s Most Recent Fighting Game

During the State of Play presentation, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced two games, one of which remains a mystery. While details are scarce, the new Dead or Alive project promises to be a fresh experience. Until we learn more, fans of fighting games can enjoy Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, which is the most complete version of the 2019 title.

Given that DOA 6 has been out for a while, the announcement of Last Round wasn’t very exciting, as it doesn’t appear to add much new content. However, DOA 6 is a fantastic fighting game, and it’s great to see a newer version that includes all previously released downloadable content. A free version called Dead or Alive 6 Last Round Core Fighters will also be available.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

After the mixed reception to Lords of Shadow 2 and a long period without new releases, many fans thought the Castlevania series might be over. Luckily, Konami has recently started focusing on its popular game franchises again, as shown in their recent State of Play presentation. While the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall in 2026 is big news, a new Castlevania game, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, is also on the way! This is the first new Castlevania title in a long time, and fans are excited.

Good news for fans of the Legacy of Kain series! Remasters of Legacy of Kain: Ascendance and Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered are on the way, and both games are scheduled for release in March 2026.

Drawing inspiration from classic Castlevania games like Symphony of the Night, Belmont’s Curse is a side-scrolling adventure with a focus on exploration, challenging combat, and a large, interconnected map. However, it features a unique art style. The game sets its spooky story in Medieval Paris, embracing the gothic atmosphere that Castlevania is known for. It’s being developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the team behind the popular game Dead Cells, who also have experience with the Castlevania series.

A New Gothic Action RPG Releasing In 2026

Crimson Moon is a brand new action RPG that looks really promising. You play as a Nephilim, tasked with protecting the city of Gildenarch from demonic forces and fallen gods. It blends action RPG gameplay with roguelite elements, meaning each playthrough offers new skills, upgrades, and quests. The developers promise a challenging but fair experience, avoiding frustrating repetition. Combat appears visceral, fast-paced, and dynamic, with your abilities growing as you progress. Plus, you can play with a friend in co-op!

ProbablyMonsters is a new game studio with just two released games, both on a smaller scale. Their upcoming game, Crimson Moon, could be their big breakthrough if it delivers on its promise. The team at State of Play clearly enjoys Gothic RPGs, as they’ve been impressed with both Crimson Moon and Castlevania.
