Earlier this month, the development team behind Rebel Wolves, who previously worked at CD Projekt RED (known for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher), revealed their upcoming project, The Blood of Dawnwalker, would be unveiled to gamers in January. Today, we finally got a sneak peek!

The event began by streaming live on the studio’s Twitch channel, where they talked about the progress of the action-RPG. If you prefer to jump right into it, the trailer offers a sneaky look at the storyline, and there’s also a brief glimpse of the gameplay.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Is A Dark Fantasy Game Featuring Vampires

In terms of game details, information is sparse, but we have a basic understanding of the storyline. As described by Rebel Wolves for The Blood of Dawnwalker, you assume the role of Coen, who becomes a Dawnwalker, walking the line between day and night realms. Utilize your abilities and blend vampiric power with human determination as you embark on a mission to save those dear to you. Encounter adversaries, whether they are humans, monsters, or time itself. Be wary though, for the true danger might dwell in daylight, and hidden friends could hide under the cloak of night.

The CGI preview gives us insight into why Coen has become who he is today, and it appears that we will encounter the main antagonist of the game too. This strongly reminds me of the Legendary series of Kain, which I find intriguing. I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Although the gameplay is quite brief, it showcases the nimbleness of the main character and their readiness for combat, even under sunlight. Moreover, there appears to be a formidable adversary with mechanical limbs, hinting at a potential boss encounter.

The complete unveiling of the game will occur in Summer 2025, meaning it won’t be available for play this year.

As Rebel Wolves develop their ominous dark fantasy title, CD Projekt RED is also working on a new project – none other than The Witcher 4. Although we don’t have a release date for this yet, CD Projekt has shared that the game’s map size will be approximately the same as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s expansive map.

As of now, there’s no set launch date for Dawnwalker’s Blood, but it’s been confirmed to be under development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. This game is designed as a standalone, open-world dark fantasy action RPG, ensuring that you won’t encounter any loot boxes or continuous live service elements in the gameplay.
