The Borderlands Movie Is Absolutely Hated By Everyone

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must confess that my anticipation for the Borderlands movie was through the roof. The vibrant world, the quirky characters, and the relentless action were all promises of an unforgettable cinematic experience. However, upon hearing the chorus of disapproval from critics, my heart sank faster than a Hyperion drop ship in a canyon.

The Borderlands film is set to premiere in cinemas on August 9th, yet early critic reviews have been less than favorable. To put it mildly, it seems as though most viewers who’ve seen the Borderlands movie have expressed dislike for it. In other words, there appears to be a general agreement among those who’ve watched the film that they didn’t enjoy it.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently sits with a 0 rating. You read that right, 0 out of 100.

According to 14 critical reviews thus far, Borderlands is receiving criticism for being “unimaginative,” “dull,” and in some cases, a “catastrophe.”

“Adriano Caporusso from Bitesize Breakdown stated that the movie is packed with tired clichés, replacing the action and creativity of the games with a dull, unfunny, and visually unpleasant mess. The characters are irritating, and the cast lacks any chemistry together.”

Clarisse Loughrey from The Independent commented that the film takes us back to an era where studios would produce such movies, much like how a slightly inebriated individual struggles to order late-night chicken nuggets with elegance and precision.

Although many viewers might find the film featuring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Blatt amusing or engaging, it appears that those who do will likely be few in number compared to others. Previously, Randy Pitchford declared that the initial movie laid the foundation for the Borderlands cinematic universe. If this film underperforms at the box office as severely as it has with critics, there may not be a universe left to delve into.

Only time will tell what the future holds for the franchise.
