The eagerly anticipated prequel series titled Vought Rising is soon to hit our screens, with fans eager for more intriguing characters and witty humor. While specific details are still under wraps, we know that Vought Rising will feature Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles portraying Stormfront/Clara Vought in 1950s New York City, delving into a “murder mystery.” Variety recently announced that Will Hochman has been cast for the series, generating much excitement about the direction this world might take.
The upcoming season 5 of “The Boys” is on its horizon, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet. In the interim, as “Gen V” has left quite an impression, anticipation for “Vought Rising” is running high. Meanwhile, with thoughts turning towards top-notch prequels, the “Walking Dead” prequel “Fear The Walking Dead” stands out due to its insightful exploration of the initial zombie apocalypse. Could the upcoming prequel of “The Boys”, namely “Vought Rising”, draw some inspiration from it?
Fear The Walking Dead Did These Two Things Perfectly And So Could The Boys Prequel Vought Rising

In a concise manner, the first season of “The Walking Dead” effectively told its story in just six episodes, with its spin-off “Fear The Walking Dead” following suit. Despite subsequent seasons having more episodes, the initial season of “The Boys” was relatively brief at only 12 episodes compared to typical network dramas. The upcoming prequel, “Vought Rising,” must cram a substantial amount of action, plot development, and character growth into fewer seasons due to “The Boys” impressive track record. Given the strength of its episodes, fans can anticipate that the spin-off will be just as gritty, impactful, and unpredictable as its predecessor.
It would be terrific if the prequel of “The Boys” also brought back beloved characters, similar to how “Fear The Walking Dead” introduced Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) while featuring Morgan Jones (Lennie James), a character Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) encounters early on in “The Walking Dead.” Although it’s exciting to connect with new characters and their aspirations, having familiar faces around provides a sense of comfort. For instance, Grimes made an appearance in season 4 of “Fear The Walking Dead,” which was thrilling. Even though fans saw the hard yet compassionate leader again in the spinoff “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,”, it was still a delight to watch him engage with other characters within the prequel.
In its ongoing narrative, Vought Rising is expanding the tales of established characters like Stormfront and Soldier Boy, drawing in audiences who are eager to witness their further adventures. However, to maintain viewer engagement, it’s crucial that stars such as Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell) and Karl Urban (Billy Butcher) make appearances. The 1950s backdrop might pose challenges for certain character inclusion, but the show can circumvent this by employing narrative devices like flash-forwards or dream sequences. Alternatively, some of the The Boys cast could take on new roles, even if they’re not reprising their original characters. Regardless, fans would still delight in recognizing their favorite actors, regardless of the roles they play.
Fear The Walking Dead mixes the classic zombie apocalypse narrative with fresh insights into its origins, all while keeping new characters as engaging and valiant as those in The Walking Dead. It was a clever move to focus The Boys prequel around Stormfront and Soldier Boy given their intrigue. Interestingly, Jensen Ackles is renowned for playing Dean Winchester in 15 seasons of Supernatural, a character who contrasts greatly with Soldier Boy. Although Dean notoriously wreaks havoc on a hotel room in one episode, he is essentially good-natured and far less enigmatic than Soldier Boy. In an interview with Men’s Health, Ackles shared:
Soldier Boy fits this type of mold, as he believes he’s acting appropriately for the situation. However, in reality, he’s sorely misguided. He sees himself as a hero, but he’s actually deeply flawed and functions more like the villain.
What Did The Showrunner Say About The Boys Prequel Vought Rising?

Back in July 2024, news broke about the upcoming series titled “Vought Rising.” During a discussion at Comic-Con, executive producer Paul Grellong and showrunner Eric Kripke shared insights on the series. As reported by Variety, they divulged this information.
This story unfolds as a complex murder mystery set in the 1950s, detailing the beginnings of Vought, the early adventures of Soldier Boy, and the cunning strategies of a Super named Stormfront, previously known as Clara Vought.
In July 2024, Kripke discussed “Vought Rising” with Variety and mentioned that he had conversations with Amazon about potentially creating two spin-offs of The Boys, namely “Vought Rising” and “Gen V”. Amazon suggested starting with “Gen V”, and if it goes well, they might move on to “Rising”. Kripke referred to “Vought Rising” as a potential spin-off that could follow after “Gen V”, depending on how things turn out.
Similar to ‘L.A. Confidential’ featuring superheroes promises to be incredibly enjoyable. Both Jensen and Aya are renowned figures, set to create a sensation that will leave everyone amazed.
