The Division Resurgence brings the intense action of Tom Clancy’s world to mobile devices. Before you begin playing as an SHD Agent, you’ll choose a Specialization – a class-based system that first appeared in The Division 2 and is now available on mobile.
We’ve created a detailed guide to help you choose the best Specialization in The Division Resurgence. It covers each one’s skills, strengths, and how it plays, so be sure to check it out before making your choice.
Which Specialization Should You Pick in The Division Resurgence?
The Division Resurgence keeps the Specialization system from The Division 2, but it’s been streamlined for mobile devices. Like before, each Specialization has a unique Signature Weapon. However, a key improvement is that players can unlock more gadgets and weapons as they progress, making them more adaptable than in the PC and console versions.
Each character class offers two different ways to play, each with its own unique skill tree called ‘Specialization Focus.’ Let’s quickly go over these options so you can find the playstyle that fits you best.
- Vanguard: A weapons specialist, focused on long-range damage, deploying scanning pulse, buffing damage.
- Field Medic: The healer specialist greatly contributes to the group’s survival and poisons enemies.
- Bulwark: The frontliner, capable of deploying a tactical shield and covering his team members.
- Demolitionist: An explosives expert, capable of inflicting tons of AoE damage to foes.
As a big fan of The Division Resurgence, I’ve learned that teamwork is key. You really need a good mix of roles to take down the toughest bosses later in the game, or if you’re like me and love the thrill of PvP, to go up against other players in the Dark Zone. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves – let’s dive into each of the specializations and what they can do!
You can try out all the different character classes using the VR Agent Training program, which you can find in the Game Menu. Give it a shot and discover which class fits your playstyle best!
Vanguard
I’m a huge fan of characters who are masters of stealth and precision. Basically, I love seeing someone who’s a skilled weapon expert, especially a sniper, and really knows how to use the environment to their advantage. They’re not about rushing in – they prefer to find the perfect cover, pick off targets carefully, and take them down one by one. It’s just so cool to watch!
| Scanning Pulse | Marks enemies and enhances the damage they take, and applies debuffs depending on focus. |
| Smart Cover | Enhances all nearby cover, granting damage reduction and other buffs depending on focus. |
| Tactical Link (Signature Ability) | Grants increased critical chance and auto aim for 12 seconds, players can spray and pray, and all bullets will hit the target. |
Vanguards have two distinctive Focuses: Commando and Recon.
Commando excels at dealing high damage, especially with automatic weapons and its special ability, which significantly boosts critical hits. This makes it a great choice for players who prefer to play alone and take down enemies quickly.
Recon excels at dealing precise damage and providing tactical support to the team. They primarily use the Sniper Rifle as their Signature Weapon and their abilities focus on enhancing team performance with buffs like increased movement and reload speed, and damage reduction.
Field Medic
This character excels at both team healing and dealing poison damage to multiple enemies at once. It uses small drone hives that can either heal allies or harm opponents, depending on how you customize it. This specialization is perfect for players who prioritize keeping their team alive and working together.
| Chemical Trap | Releases a small AoE detonation trap that applies Corrosive to enemies. |
| Oxidizing Hive | Each time the player deals damage with a weapon, a micro-drone will fly to the target and apply a Corrosive DoT on it. |
| Oxidizing Swarm (Signature Ability) | A swarm of micro-drones flies towards enemies in a large AoE, dealing damage and applying Corrosive to them. |
Field Medic has two main focuses:
Tactical Pharma focuses on dealing damage to enemies using powerful attacks like Oxidizing Swarms and Corrosion (Poison). It’s a combat style designed to inflict significant harm, making it ideal for quickly leveling up a Field Medic when playing solo PvE missions.
Combat Medicine transforms the Field Medic’s skills into strong healing drones, helping to keep teammates alive. It works particularly well when playing with others, but isn’t as useful when playing alone.
Bulwark
The Bulwark is a combat role designed to lead your team and directly engage enemy forces. It uses a deployable shield called the Phalanx Shield and a Shockwave Spike to control the battlefield. Its main ability lets you deploy both the shield and a powerful RCS-12 Shotgun, making it ideal for aggressive frontline attacks.
| Shockwave Spike | Marks enemies and enhances the damage they take, and applies debuffs depending on focus. |
| Phalanx Shield | Enhances all nearby cover, granting damage reduction and other buffs depending on focus. |
| Breach Combo (Signature Ability) | Grants increased critical chance and auto aim for 12 seconds, players can spray and pray, and all bullets will hit the target. |
Demolitionist
Many players consider the Demolitionist to be the most powerful Specialization for player-versus-environment (PvE) combat. It excels at both controlling large groups of enemies and dealing focused damage to specific targets. Its Seeker Mine is particularly effective at forcing enemies out of cover, and it’s equally useful in player-versus-player (PvP) scenarios, especially against heavily fortified opponents. Unlike in previous versions of the game, the Seeker Mine in The Division Resurgence is difficult to destroy, making Demolitionists a serious threat to rogue players in the Dark Zone.
| Explosive Seeker Mine | Releases a small rolling mine that will pinpoint nearby targets, roll towards them, and explode on contact. |
| Artillery Turret | Deploys a Mortar Turret that will fire ordnance at groups of enemies in three successive waves. Extremely powerful in PvE. |
| M32A1 Grenade Launcher. (Signature Ability) | Deploys a grenade launcher to attack enemies. Can be shot six times before the ability enters a long cooldown, but deals massive damage to bosses and groups of enemies. |
The Demolitionist has two specializations:
HE Munitions is a specialization centered around maximizing damage output. It achieves this through improved ammo boxes that significantly increase damage to enemies, and also enhances the power of the M32A1 Grenade Launcher, your Signature weapon.
Field Grenadier enhances many of the Demolitionist’s gadgets, such as the Seeker Mine and Artillery Turret.
