The DualSense V3 Doesn’t Have a Removable Battery, Despite Rumors

Tech reviewer Austin Evans has confirmed that reports about the upcoming DualSense V3 controller having a removable battery are false.

The content creator recently reviewed the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro, which is said to come with an updated DualSense controller, nicknamed ‘V3’. While this new controller isn’t the same as earlier versions and features a different battery, it unfortunately doesn’t have a removable battery.

The idea that the new PlayStation 5 might have a removable battery first appeared on a Polish retailer’s website, PPE. It’s likely this detail was a misunderstanding, as most of the other information they shared about the PlayStation 5 Pro and its controller turned out to be correct.

A replaceable battery would be really useful for the DualSense controller. However, since Sony hasn’t added it to the newest model, it probably won’t be available until the next version of the controller is released.

Austin Evans’ full YouTube video (linked below) initially suggests the PlayStation 5 Pro has a few small updates. One noticeable change is that the new console is lighter, which seems to be a trend with updated versions.

Everyone is now looking ahead to PlayStation’s next console, which will likely be named the PlayStation 6.

According to a new report from TopMob, the PlayStation 6 is expected to have a removable disc drive, a feature Sony first added to the PlayStation 5 partway through its release.

So, I just heard the DualSense v3 controller won’t have a removable battery, and honestly, I’m a little bummed about it. I was really hoping they’d bring that back! I’m curious to hear what everyone else thinks, so I’m heading over to the TopMob Discord to chat about it. What are your thoughts?
