The Elder Scrolls Has A Great Blueprint to Start and End 2025 With a Bang

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of excitement at the prospect of Bethesda making some big moves with The Elder Scrolls series in 2025. It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen a new mainline Elder Scrolls game, and as someone who has spent countless hours exploring Tamriel, I can tell you that the itch to return is stronger than ever.

Rumors of an Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster have been circulating for a while now, and if true, it would be a fantastic way to kick off the year. I remember playing Oblivion back in the day, and while it’s had its share of ports over the years, a proper remaster could breathe new life into one of my favorite Elder Scrolls games.

But let’s not stop there. The Elder Scrolls 6 has been in development for what feels like an eternity, and I can only imagine the sheer scale and depth that Bethesda has in store for us. I’ve heard whispers of a new trailer being unveiled this year, perhaps even confirming its chosen setting. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll get to explore a brand-new corner of Tamriel in no time.

And finally, as someone who has spent countless hours in the world of The Elder Scrolls, I can’t help but wonder: will there be a way to play as an Argonian this time around? After all, we’ve had our fair share of human protagonists, so it’s about time we got to experience the world from a different perspective. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get to see some underwater gameplay!

On a lighter note, I can only imagine what Bethesda would do with an Elder Scrolls MMO. Can you picture it? “You are now entering Cyrodiil, the Imperial City. Please remember to tip your bartender generously.” Sign me up!

As a gaming enthusiast, I can tell you that Bethesda hasn’t been taking it easy lately. They unveiled their first new IP in ages with Starfield back in September 2023, and they’ve been consistently rolling out patches, updates, and expansions for it since then. On top of that, they’ve been putting out some amazing games recently – Deathloop, Hi-Fi Rush, Redfall, and the latest Indiana Jones adventure, Great Circle. Despite having a lot on their plate right now, I can’t help but hope for more from The Elder Scrolls series.

Over the years, “Skyrim” has been ported multiple times and “The Elder Scrolls Online” continues to receive regular updates and expansions, including one in June. However, it’s been over a decade since we last saw a new mainline “Elder Scrolls” game. But there might be some exciting news on the horizon. Some whispers have emerged suggesting that Bethesda could soon share some information about “Elder Scrolls,” and if these rumors are true, they could make both the beginning and end of 2025 memorable events.

The Elder Scrolls Could Have Two Big Announcements in 2025

An Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster Could Start The Year With a Bang

Back in September 2023, secret files from the Microsoft FTC court case were disclosed. One of these files hinted that remakes for both “Fallout 3” and “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” had been under development at one point. Although many gamers presumed these remakes to be abandoned projects, a few enthusiasts continued hoping they would eventually become available.

As a devoted fan of The Elder Scrolls series for over two decades, I’ve eagerly awaited news about the remastering of one of my all-time favorites: Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Rumors have been swirling for some time now, and the latest report from Windows Central’s Jez Corden has given me renewed hope that this dream might soon become a reality. If Microsoft follows its usual pattern, another Xbox Developer Direct is likely to take place in January 2025 – just as it has for the past two years. Given my past experiences with leaks and announcements, I’m optimistic that we’ll finally get some official word on Oblivion’s remaster during this event. Fingers crossed!

An Elder Scrolls 6 Trailer Could End The Year With a Win

If an announcement for the remastered version of “Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” at the rumored Xbox Developer Direct in January were to occur, it would undoubtedly mark a significant start for Bethesda’s year. However, instead of resting on their laurels, they should also provide updates about “The Elder Scrolls 6“, a game that fans have eagerly awaited for years. It’s high time Bethesda shared more details about the game.

Since 2018, the anticipated release of The Elder Scrolls 6 has become increasingly notorious, even with Todd Howard, a key figure at Bethesda, expressing that he might have approached its announcement more casually if given another chance. In 2021, Howard confirmed the game was in the design phase. By August 2023, Pete Hines from Bethesda announced it was fully under development. More recently, in March, Bethesda revealed that early versions of the much-awaited sequel were being tested internally.

Even though we’re likely looking at a wait of at least another year or two before “The Elder Scrolls 6” becomes available in stores, it would certainly be exciting if we could get a glimpse of a new trailer for the game this year, possibly revealing its selected location at last.
