The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Out Now, Surprise Surprise

At last, here it is! Bethesda and Virtuos have officially unveiled “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered”, an announcement that didn’t exactly catch everyone off guard. As anticipated, the upgrade includes a complete visual makeover along with several enhancements.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard aims to preserve the essence of the original game while enhancing its graphics and performance for contemporary gamers. Howard intends for “Oblivion Remastered” to maintain a distinct, timeless feel, with Virtuos affirming that the original game remains the foundation for this updated version.

In essence, while Oblivion Remastered is constructed using Unreal Engine 5, it retains the original Oblivion‘s engine as a crucial element of gameplay. However, enhancements have been made to the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), and upgrades have been implemented across various features and systems within the game.

For the remaster, fresh character models and settings have been developed, while an advanced real-time lighting system accurately replicates how light behaves within these environments. Moreover, cutting-edge lip-sync technology gives characters a more authentic appearance, although it’s worth noting that this is not particularly challenging when dealing with characters from the world of Oblivion.

In simpler terms, “Oblivion Remastered” will feature an updated leveling system that seems to be a blend of the original “Oblivion’s” and the one from “Skyrim.” Additionally, the combat has been enhanced with fresh effects and models, making it feel more realistic.

For the project, new dialogue has been added, yet many of your beloved phrases from the original will remain familiar, such as the well-known “Halt! You’ve broken the law!” that the guards are particularly fond of.

In essence, a significant portion of the game Oblivion, such as its minigames, main storylines, and additional features, remains unchanged. This means that if you’re embarking on your first adventure in Cyrodiil, you’ll experience something quite similar to what playing the original game felt like back in 2006.

Today, you can get your hands on “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered” for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S! It’s worth noting that if you have a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, the game is included; however, it’s not available with the standard version.
