I just finished playing Universe for Sale, and it’s a really unique game. You’re dropped into this broken-down space colony hanging out in Jupiter’s clouds, and you follow the story of Lila and this seriously strange cultist. Lila can actually make universes – she mixes stuff together like brewing tea, and boom, new reality! The cultist? Well, he’s gone to extreme lengths to become totally detached from everything, even removing most of his flesh. The whole game, which took me about five hours to beat, is about how fascinated he is with Lila’s powers, and all the crazy stuff that happens when their paths cross. It’s a wild ride!
In Universe for Sale, you play as a cultist who interacts with a diverse and quirky group of characters – from a talking orangutan to classic science fiction citizens. The game is played mostly by clicking on things, with a few simple puzzles and dialogue options mixed in. While the gameplay is fun, the real highlights of Universe for Sale are its story, memorable characters, and unique art style.
