The First Descendant Gets Big Update for October 2025

The First Descendant just got a huge update, bringing lots of new content and improvements to the game – including a brand new sword-style weapon! It’s been a busy year for Nexon’s The First Descendant, which has experienced both successes and challenges over the last twelve months.

The looter shooter genre keeps getting better with each season and update, as developers try to address player concerns and add exciting new features to keep people playing. Season 3 of The First Descendant included its first collaboration event featuring Nier Automata, and another one is starting on November 6 with the Bayonetta series. But Nexon isn’t finished yet – their newest update brings a lot of fresh content for players to discover.

Okay, so Update 1.3.6 for The First Descendant just dropped, and it’s a massive one! Seriously, there’s a ton of new content, a bunch of improvements to make the game smoother, and, of course, they’ve fixed even more bugs. But for me, the biggest news is definitely the addition of swords to all the weapons in The First Descendant. They’re adding two new swords with this patch: Shadow and Deus Ex Manus. Shadow is being called a “balanced” option, and it lets you charge up the blade for a cool dashing slash. Deus Ex Manus is a real power weapon – it lets you reduce incoming damage, but you use up that damage reduction bonus to actually *deal* extra damage. Pretty neat, huh?

In addition to swords, this update introduces a new boss fight to the First Descendant Void Intercept challenges. Players can now battle Abyss at the Lava Citadel, which features unique boss mechanics and stage elements. A new “medium-sized” area called Void Vessel provides a fresh location to explore and obtain blueprints for characters like Shadow, Vespers Hunting Dog, and others. If you’re aiming for the Deus Ex Manus sword, you’ll need to play on Hard difficulty to earn it.

In addition to improvements and adjustments to character classes in The First Descendant, this update introduces new in-game events, starting with the Halloween-themed Albion Harvest Festival. Running from October 1st to November 5th, players can trade Attendance Mementos for a variety of rewards. Nexon states that the event will provide players with Consumables, Customization Items, and Event Shop Tokens to use. As expected, new premium items will also be available in the shop during this period.

– We’ve included special icons within the Challenge Target section of the ESC Menu to clearly show progress for both the Season Target and the Event Pass Target.

– Modified the setting location from Changed Screen > Camera Settings > [Set Display of the Crosshair in the Cities] to [Display Fire-disabled Crosshairs].

This option lets you control whether the crosshair is shown when you can’t fire in areas like cities and fields. It essentially manages the crosshair’s visibility during times you’re unable to shoot.

ㄴThe existing setting will be reset and you may need to set the options again.

(5) Shop

– Customization Products equipped by my Descendant will not be shown in View Bundle Product.

– You can see a preview of Emotes, Ecives, and Spawn items for Descendants and Fellows by going to View Bundle Items.

Selecting Preview will show you the Emote, Equip, and Spawn animations for the character wearing the Bundle Item.

ㄴ In Preview, the camera cannot be moved up, down, left, or right.

– Repositioned the placement of Select Descendant Filter to the far right.

(6) Party

Okay, so they’ve tweaked how the game finds parties for me. Basically, I shouldn’t run into situations where I join a group that’s already completely full when I use the Recommended Party, Quick Join, or Recommended Party Member features anymore. It’s a pretty good improvement – no more wasted time trying to join a party that’s already maxed out! They’ve really improved the system logic behind it.

ㄴWhen the session is full while recruiting Party, the recruiting will end.

Okay, so I’ve noticed that if you’re already in a full party session, the game only shows other players from your exact same session when it’s suggesting party members. It doesn’t pull from anyone else – just the people you’re already playing with. It makes sense, I guess, to keep things streamlined, but I thought I’d mention it!

– We’ve updated the message players see when trying to switch zones with Quick Join turned on, making it clearer and more helpful.

ㄴ(Previously) The server could not be reached → (Updated) You are unable to move while Quick Join is searching for a match.

– Changed the Settings/Featured logic of social tags as shown below:

ㄴThe number of social tags that can be set has been changed from 3 → 1.

ㆍDescendants with unmatching social tags will not be recommended to each other.

Okay, so I’m hearing that the social tags are getting a big overhaul! They’re changing things up with 76 different types of tags, and some of those are even coming from the tags we already see in the Battle category. Basically, everything *else* is going to be removed – they’re cleaning house! It sounds like a pretty significant update to how tags work. More details here.

[Details]

– Improved Settings screen as follows:

ㄴAdded Help guide.

ㄴModified/Added some expressions.

ㆍ(Modified expression) Recruitment Settings → Priority Settings

ㆍ(Added expression) Recruitment Conditions – Not used for Recommended Parties.

Even though you’ve reached the limit for social tags, choosing another one will still show it in the “My Social Tags” section.

ㄴRemoved the social tag category.

– Modified the social tag description in Help guide of “Recruit Party” menu.

(7) Reactor

– Reactor Optimization Conditions have been removed.

The Reactor now operates at its maximum power level, no matter what kind of weapon you have equipped or are using.

– With the discontinuation of Reactor Optimization Conditions, Reactor transplantation is now unavailable.

As a thank you for your hard work on Reactor transplantation, all Descendants will receive 3 Crystallization Catalysts.

ㄴ The mail will expire on Nov 12, 2025 (Wed) 22:59 PST. Please claim the reward before it expires.

(8) Miscellaneous

– As Reactor Implant function has been removed, related Awards have been changed.

ㄴPrevious: Reactor Implant 2 times

ㄴChanged: Memory Sync at an Arche Trace 20 times

– We’ve taken out 2 side quests connected to the Reactor Implant: Reactor Implant Training and Reactor Implant: Practicum.

– A function to check the range of random options in item tool tip has been added to Game Options.

– Added the phrase “My information.” in the player’s social pop-up.

– We’ve added a message, “View Descendant is not available for Squads,” to the social pop-up. This message will appear when a Descendant ranks on the leaderboard after playing in a 2-4 person Squad.

– Changed the Medal Award names and conditions.

[Details]

The “With the Current Squad” function, previously found on the results screen after matchmaking-based content, will be removed.

– Items dropped by a defeated Field Colossus will always appear, even if you’re far away, as long as you’re in the same Squad or Party.

– The maximum Vulgus summon count in the Laboratory is expanded to 50.

– You can summon “Legion of Breach” in the Laboratory.

ㄴUse/Summon available for the players who entered Axion Plains only.

ㄴSummon level is fixed at Lv. 190.

– Fixed the description for the 4-set bonus of the External Component ‘Shell Crusher,’ replacing the word “firearm” with the more general term “weapon.”

Bug Fixes

(1) Content

– We resolved a problem where the deimmunizing monster from Karon, a special monster in the Sterile Land – Unknown Laboratory 400% Dungeon, was appearing inside the wall instead of in the open. This has been fixed so it now spawns correctly.

– Fixed an issue where the Seizure Object is not respawned in the Seizure Mission occasionally.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know I squashed a bug! The Ecive Marker in Void Vessel Operations was showing up looking all weird in the Vaults, but it should appear normally now. Hopefully, this makes things a bit smoother for you all when you’re running those ops!

– We resolved a problem that caused the music to stop playing during the 8-Player Wall Crasher Intercept Battle. The music will now play continuously throughout the battle.

As a big fan, I’m so glad they fixed that visual bug! It was a little weird seeing the Dead Bride, one of the Field Colossi, get damaged and not actually *show* the destruction of her right leg. Now it looks much better when that part gets blown off – a really nice quality-of-life improvement!

I’m so glad they fixed that frustrating bug! It was really annoying because sometimes, after a crash during certain Quests, I couldn’t actually talk to the NPCs I needed to continue. It completely stopped me from making progress! Now, even if the game crashes, I should be able to log back in and continue my Quests without getting stuck. It’s a huge relief!

– Resolved a problem that caused delays in stopping monster actions when they were subjected to crowd control effects. Essentially, crowd control should now consistently and immediately interrupt what a monster is doing.

(2) Descendants

– We resolved a problem that caused the Passive Skill to re-activate and incorrectly register as being used when switching to a new map.

– Fixed an issue where Nell’s Ecive Scan detects the visuals of some Monsters in Stealth mode.

– Fixed the display error for the acquisition of Ultimate Bunny Electricity.

(3) Modules

– We’ve taken out the mention of weakening regeneration from the description of “Nerve Infiltration,” which is a Modification Module available for both Lepic and Ultimate Lepic.

(4) UI & UX

– Removed 2 Advanced Sound Options that did not play.

(5) Miscellaneous

– Resolved a problem that caused the Quest UI animation to play repeatedly when tracking multiple Quests simultaneously. This fix ensures the animation plays only once, providing a cleaner user experience.

– We resolved a problem that caused the wrong message to appear in notifications when certain features were temporarily down.
