As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, it’s always a breath of fresh air to see such meticulous updates to games I hold dear. This latest patch for this game seems to have addressed quite a few niggling issues that I, and many others, have encountered during gameplay.
The long-awaited debut of The First Descendant‘s first season is here, introducing the fresh cryo sniper character Hailey, as well as the Invasion Episode, among other exciting features for gamers to explore. Since its initial release in early July, The First Descendant has garnered significant success for Nexon. Despite being a free-to-play game, it has successfully attracted a substantial player base. To keep fans engaged and satisfied, Nexon has been regularly releasing updates and new content, while also modifying parts of the game that many players have found less enjoyable.
Over the past few weeks, Nexon has been busy preparing the game for its first season. Following a new trailer, The First Descendant players were introduced to the cryo sniper Hailey Scott, the latest character being added to the game’s growing roster. As a sniper, she’s capable of dealing massive damage to enemies, especially those further away thanks to her passive. She also has access to cryo rounds and a knock back ability to generate more space away from enemies, though her ultimate ability equips her unique weapon to not only dish out huge damage but restores MP and decreases cooldown. However, a new character isn’t the only change players will find after downloading the first season.
The first season update for “The First Descendant” is significant, not just in terms of new content, but Nexon has overhauled many aspects of the game’s systems with quality enhancements and bug corrections. For instance, this update has modified Void Fragments and Fusion Reactors to let players immediately start the other activity after completing one, by providing enough materials. Additionally, Reconstructed Devices in Fusion Reactors now need only a single type of shard instead of two distinct ones, making them simpler to manage for obtaining and farming rewards. Furthermore, when crafting items in Albion, players can now specify the quantity to produce if they have sufficient resources, rather than having to craft one at a time. Also, the time required for an Ion Accelerator, Phase Exchanger, or Adjustment Control Axis has been reduced.
For most players however, the new content like the previously mentioned Hailey Scott will likely be the big headliners with this update. The game’s story continues in Season 1 as players can now check out the Invasion episode once all main quests have been completed. Working through that storyline eventually unlocks the new Inversion Reinforcement progression system in The First Descendant, a tool that allows players to improve and strengthen their character with bonuses and effects tied to five different categories. Players will need to acquire Ironheart Particles to increase the Inversion Reinforcer level, which grants energy that can be spent.
Initially, players looked forward to the new season with much enthusiasm, but a touch of debate surfaced when Nexon unveiled plans to divide the season into three distinct updates across a span of three months. The highly anticipated character, Ultimate Freyna, was set for arrival in-game towards the end of October, which didn’t sit well with fans. In response to this feedback, Nexon made a significant adjustment to the release schedule for The First Descendant, trimming it down to just 2 updates and moving the final update closer to the beginning of October. Although some players are disappointed about the shortened season 1, they appreciate the change as it underscores that the developers are actively listening to their community.

Content Improvements
(1) Content
- Added visual hints (Ecive effects, chat messages) for locating Encrypted Vaults.
# Director’s Comment
Lately, we’ve noticed some players who are hard of hearing find it challenging to locate Encrypted Vaults in The First Descendant game. To make the game more inclusive, we’ve incorporated visual indicators into the hints for the Encrypted Vaults. This should help more players enjoy the game without any discomfort due to hearing issues. We aim to keep refining accessibility features so that everyone can have a delightful gaming experience, regardless of their hearing abilities.
- Replaced missions in Hard Infiltration Operations with more combat-oriented ones.
- Increased the EXP reward for completing Hard Infiltration Operations. Also increased EXP for defeating monsters by 1.5 times.
- You can now acquire rare basic materials as a reward for completing Hard Infiltration Operations.
- Increased EXP for defeating monsters in Normal Infiltration Operations by 1.5 times.
# Director’s Comment
The 1.1.0 update brings many changes to Hard Infiltration Operations. We’ve changed some of the pre-existing missions such as Occupation, Defense, and Escort to Extermination or Destruction to give players a run-and-gun styled fast-paced combat experience as they enjoy repeated farming. The reward system has also been adjusted to reflect this: we’ve significantly increased the amount of EXP gained from defeating monsters and completing missions in Hard Infiltration Operations, and while Special Operations are still the better option for farming EXP, Infiltration Operations can now provide a decent amount of EXP as players farm items. Additionally, we’ve increased the amount of rare basic materials you can receive from clearing Hard Infiltration Operations. We’ll continue to add more content that allows players to enjoy their favorite styles of combat.
- Added directions to appear when using Ecive during missions.
- Monsters will no longer target players who are participating in other missions.
- Story dialogues will no longer be repeated in Hard Difficulty missions. As a result, Hard Difficulty missions will not play additional voice lines or subtitles.
- Changed the Immunity mechanics of certain Named Monsters. Replaced the sphere destruction mechanic of Eterllick, Celdir, Dmigor, and Plaudia with shooting weak points.
- Increased the barrier hit range of Named Monster Eterllick.
- Players will no longer be teleported when joining Largescale Outpost missions.
- Increased the Gold reward for completing Hard Difficulty Largescale Outposts by approximately 3 times.
- Improved the routes so that shards acquired from Void Fragments can be used on the Fusion Reactor in the same battlefield.
- More than doubled the amount of shards obtained from Void Fragments.
- Changed monster types and spawn locations in certain Void Fragment missions.
- “Hagios: Dune Base,” “Vespers: Moonlight Lake,” “Echo Swamp: Abandoned Zone,” and “Fortress: Frozen Valley”
- Removed the starting requirements (Void Shards) of Void Fusion Reactors and added requirements (Void Shards) to the Reconstructed Devices that appear in Fusion Reactors.
- Made an improvement so that only one type of shard is required when using the Reconstructed Device in a Void Fusion Reactor.
- Reduced the time to interact with Reconstructed Devices.
- Summoned Reconstructed Devices now expire 10 seconds after all participants have used them.
# Director’s Comment
1.1.0 update brings changes that guarantee acquiring enough Void Shards from a single Void Fragment playthrough to power up the Reconstructed Devices in Fusion Reactors once. Additionally, we’ve enhanced user-friendliness by ensuring both Void Fragments and Fusion Reactors on the same battlefield drop and need identical shards. Previously, you could gather two types of shards from Void Fragments; however, now only one type of shard is required for the Reconstructed Devices in Fusion Reactors, making the process more straightforward.
We’re always looking at feedback to make Outposts and Void Fragments even better. Our developers are brainstorming ways to transform Outposts into a continuous battlefield for future enhancements, while also simplifying farming for Void Fragments and Fusion Reactors by incorporating new content.
With the 1.1.0 update, we’ve shifted the starting points for specific Void Fragment missions to facilitate easier farming of shard attributes. Moreover, we’ve introduced snipers at particular Void Fragment locations to discourage the utilization of automated scripts or macros.
In some Void Fragment zones, I’m thrilled to share that we’ve made improvements to enhance your farming adventures! Here’s hoping it brings you even more joy and excitement.
- Players can now view the “Past Mission Results” from the menu after completing Special Operations, allowing them to restart the mission.
- Improved display of the mission tooltip information on the Special Operation and Infiltration Operation World Map screen.
- More than doubled the amount of shards that can be picked up in Special Operations.
- Acquire additional Descendant EXP when completing waves in Special Operations.
# Director’s Comment
We’ve tweaked the Special Operations to enhance their efficiency in earning Experience Points (EXP). Although some players find satisfaction in leveling up by placing Sterile Land Mines, we think that methods like farming Void Fragments offer a more rewarding EXP experience, as they require less complex gameplay.
In this latest update, we’ve incorporated EXP rewards when clearing waves in Special Operations. The quickest strategy, Mine Blockade, now grants approximately 1.5 times the previous amount of EXP, while both Resource Defense and Neutralize Experiment will bestow double the EXP. This change should make it easier for players to progress through different Special Operations at a faster rate.
(2) UI/UX
- Fixed issue to allow multiple socket types to be assigned to a single module socket.
- The socket type applied to Loadout Setting 1 can also be used for Settings 2 and 3 as well.

- Each socket type for Loadout Settings 1, 2, 3 can be changed so they all may differ.
- Fixed issue to allow the dismantling of equipment during combat.
- Added dead zone settings to the game controller options.
- Made improvements so that the Amorphous Materials linked to Fusion Reactors are displayed in the acquisition information, like Intercept Battles.
- Made improvements to allow the ability to designate the quantity of researches when researching enhancement materials.
- Reduced research time for [Standard/Precision] Ion Accelerator, Phase Exchanger, and Adjustment Control Axis.
# Director’s Comment
In our update, users can choose how many studies to conduct when investigating enhancement materials. As a result of this modification, you’ll notice that only two research options will appear for each enhancement material in your list. Before this change, it was possible to generate several Adjustment Control Axes simultaneously; however, now, you can only explore two Adjustment Control Axes concurrently.
As a game enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the new feature that lets me research up to 500 Adjustment Control Axises all at once! This means fewer trips to Anais and more research done in one go. But, on the downside, since you can only do one research at a time, it might limit the amount of enhancement materials I can gather quickly.
To ensure all players benefit equally, we’re speeding up the process of discovering enhancement materials. This means even if you’re only conducting one research at a time, you’ll still gather about the same amount of these materials as before. We believe this change will make the process of researching and using enhancement materials smoother for everyone.
- Made improvements to display only modules you have in duplicate when combining modules.
- Increased the number of symbols that can be displayed, when designating them as Attached Items, to 8.
- Made improvements to allow the ability to set an “Equipment Option” category in “Filter all as junk” for Reactors and External Components in equipment.
- Changed the display location and design of the random options to improve inventory slots. Removed displays for the Reactor’s attributes/Arche type and fixed the display for External Components set effects.
- The Reactor icon has changed so that it now varies, depending on the Arche type.
- Changed some External Component icons to differentiate their appearance based on their DEF, Shield, and HP stats.
# Director’s Comment
In Update 1.0.7, we introduced additional details such as random options, Arche type of Reactors, and External Component sets for item icons. However, it appears that this information overload was causing confusion among players. To address this issue, we’ve reorganized and simplified the presentation of icon data to make it more clear and user-friendly. The development team will continue to take your feedback into account as we strive to enhance the game experience further.
