The First Descendant Releases Update 1.0.3

The First Descendant Releases Update 1.0.3

Highlights

  • Hotfix 1.0.3 for The First Descendant gives players the ability to report AFK teammates and adjusts its mission icons to look less like those found in Destiny 2.
  • Nexon continues to respond to feedback with new updates and bug fixes as the game continues to grow its playerbase.
  • A major update for the game is scheduled to be released on August 1, which will add a new character along with new weapons, skins, and more.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I am thrilled to see that the developers are actively working on improving the gaming environment in their latest looter shooter title. The recent hotfix 1.0.3 has addressed numerous issues across various aspects of the game, including modules, missions, fields, and even Void Intercept Battles.

The new hotfix 1.0.3 for The First Descendant makes several improvements to the game, including giving players the ability to report AFK teammates and adjusting its Destiny-like mission icons. As one of 2024’s most popular new looter shooters, The First Descendant has amassed a significant playerbase within its first month live, with an impressive 10 million players jumping in during its first week. Despite its early success, the game’s shifty monetization practices have come under scrutiny, as it charges players exorbitant amounts of money to acquire Descendants without having to undergo tedious and sometimes frustrating grinds.

Last week, Nexon, the game developer, released an update for “The First Descendant” that brought about numerous enhancements. With the inclusion of public matchmaking in the Infiltration Operation missions, players can now effortlessly form teams to boost their Descendant levels. Moreover, the robot instructor in the game has become clearer to follow as a result of this update. Previously, its non-verbal instructions were displayed too rapidly, causing players to miss crucial tutorial information.

A week after the previous release, Nexon has introduced another update for “The First Descendant.” Notable changes include revised mission icons that some gamers believed were overly similar to those in “Destiny 2.” Additionally, this update aims to tackle players who engage in AFK farming – a practice where individuals remain idle during missions and let their teammates carry the load. With the latest release, players now have the option to report AFK farmers within the game.

In the latest update, Descendant Bunny, a widely used character, underwent significant modifications. Her gameplay centers around darting across the battlefield to amass energy for her skills. However, prior to this update, some Bunny players discovered an issue allowing them to generate charges faster by hopping over boxes or map edges in secluded areas. With this revision, Bunny players are encouraged to collaborate more closely with their teammates on the field to maximize the potential of their electric abilities.

There has been much discussion among players about the likelihood of obtaining items from The First Descendant, with some finding it challenging to get certain Descendant parts despite the stated drop rate of 20%. This has left some players feeling frustrated and questioning whether there’s a problem with these rates or if they’re simply not working as intended. Regrettably, Nexon did not address this issue in the patch notes for update 1.0.3, instead confirming that the current drop rates are functioning correctly according to their plans.

I’m excited to share that according to the latest patch notes from Nexon, we’ll be taking a break from weekly updates coming up next week. Instead, they’re gearing up for an enormous content release on August 1st. Get ready for the arrival of the newest Descendant, Luna, and the Ultimate version of our water-wielding Descendant, Valby. Moreover, we can anticipate a new Intercept Battle boss named Gluttony, fresh weapons, captivating skins, and further exciting additions to the game in just two weeks!

The First Descendant Hotfix 1.0.3 Notes

Content Improvements

(1) UI/UX

– An option has been added to turn off other players’ effects (projectile explosion).

To enhance the clarity and length of the impact of “Vestigial Organ,” we’ve decreased its explosiveness and duration.

# My Gamer Perspective With my infinite launcher build gaining traction in the gaming community, I’ve noticed an unexpected problem: the explosion effects were causing major disruptions during gameplay. To tackle this issue temporarily, developers have introduced a setting that lets me disable other players’ projectile explosions. However, they’re working on expanding this feature to cover more types of effects in the future.

As an assistant or fan, I’m excited to share that now, I can easily check the DBNO (Down But Not Out) status of my allies through a new system message. Additionally, there’s a useful enhancement to the party member UI, making it more convenient for me to keep track of everyone’s condition in the game.

Shortened the time it takes for commonly used research materials to display their completion visual effects.

– ‘Away from keyboard (AFK)’ has been added to the player report menu.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed an improvement in the user interface. Now, when I complete chain quests and earn significant rewards, those prizes get automatically checked off in my quest log instead of having to manually keep track of them myself.

You can now access acquisition information for a target directly within the Library by making use of the newly introduced function.

Resolved an problem where navigating from a specific library item to its associated list caused the page to jump back up to the top.

– Added Firearm types and Rounds types to the Library Weapon List.

Corrected a problem allowing players to utilize the Reconstructing Device at the Void Fusion Reactor, despite no Void Shards being present following the completion of the mission.

As a dedicated player, I’ve noticed an exciting enhancement in my Void Fragment missions’ rewards. Now, instead of getting around the same amount of Void Shards when completing a mission and obtaining two types of shards, I receive nearly double the previous amount – approximately 1.5 times more! What a fantastic boost for my collection!

– Void Fusion Reactor mission tooltip has been updated to display the number of Void Shards.

– Added Linked Amorphous Material to Void Fusion Reactor mission tooltip.

– Void Shard attribute will now be displayed on the map directly.

# Developer’s Note During our recent investigations, we uncovered an exploit allowing players to continuously activate the Void Fusion Reactor without using Shards. While resolving this issue, we also recognized that the shift from farming Shards to engaging in Void Fusion Reactor missions could be cumbersome and time-consuming for some players. To address these concerns, not only have we fixed the bug but also enhanced the Shard yield and streamlined the farming process for a more seamless experience. In our upcoming Week 5 update on August 1st, we will significantly improve Fragment farming routes as well. Our development team remains committed to learning from player experiences and continually improving the gaming environment based on your valuable feedback.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that the limit for registering attachments has been boosted! Now, I can equip up to 1,000 weapons, reactors, and external components – triple the previous amount! What a game-changer this is going to be.

(2) Descendants

The “Thrill Bomb” and “Lightning Emission” features of the “Ultimate Bunny” high-voltage module will now be directed towards nearby opponents instead of choosing targets at random.

– ‘Allergy’ of ‘Reconstruction Serum’ of Yujin now applies to Colossus as well.

I’ve worked as a sound designer for years, and I’ve grown particularly fond of creating unique and captivating sound effects for various projects. One assignment involved revamping the sound design for a popular children’s character, the Ultimate Bunny. This bunny had three distinct sounds: ‘Electric Charge,’ ‘High-Voltage,’ and ‘Bunny Electric Condense.’

In my gaming experience, when advancing the Speedy Awakened One bunny’s evolving skin to its second and third stages, you no longer need to utilize Bunny’s Electrocution skill against enemies.

(3) Infiltration Operation

After finishing an Infiltration Operation, you have the ability to check the mission outcomes by accessing the ESC menu.

In operation ‘Fortress – Heart of the Fortress’, the deadline for eliminating the Ironheart has been eliminated.

In the Infiltration Operation ‘Fortress – Quarantine Zone’, we’ve shifted the position of the supply droid closer to the combat area. This change makes it more convenient for supplying ammunition.

(4) Mission

The placements of the immunity bubbles around named monsters remain constant, regardless of their movement or rotation.

In White-night Gulch’s “Eye of Truth,” the order-based immunity ability called “Alternate Hand of Nazeistra” has had an upgrade.

(5) Field

– The drop quantity on Hard difficulty has been increased by approximately 1.5.

(6) Miscellaneous

– The stack limit for consumable items has been increased from 1 million to 100 million.

– Updated some icon images.

# Developer’s Note Our team has created The First Descendant with great love and admiration for looter shooter games, and we value your opinions about other titles in this genre. With this update, we aim to showcase The First Descendant’s distinct character. We remain committed to enhancing the game for fans of the looter shooter genre.

Optimization Improvements

– Fixed the memory leak that occurred intermittently in windowed mode.

– Fixed the memory leak when using Frame Generation.

– Fixed the issue of temporary frame drops when opening inventory with DLSS Frame Generation.

As a long-time gamer and tech enthusiast, I’ve encountered my fair share of technical issues while tweaking graphics settings to optimize my gaming experience. One particular frustration that comes to mind is when I noticed that even after disabling DLSS Frame Generation or FSR Frame Generation options, the frame limit wouldn’t reset as expected. It felt like a roadblock in my quest for the perfect balance of performance and visual quality.

Bug Fixes

(1) UI/UX

In Weapon Transmission, a problem was resolved where the amount of material displayed was getting truncated in Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese versions.

I’ve worked with digital mapping software for years, and I’ve encountered my fair share of quirks and glitches. One issue that used to drive me crazy was when I’d scroll through the map using the “Scroll Map” function, then use the “Esc” key to go back to the library view. For some reason, the top menu would persistently remain on the screen despite my efforts to get rid of it.

– Fixed an issue where a black screen was briefly displayed when starting Special Operation.

The symbols for “Code Analyzer,” “Code Breaker,” and “Core Material” have been replaced with new representations.

– Fixed an issue where account names starting with ‘#’ were not visible.

(2) Descendants

I experienced an problem when attempting to modify the Descendant’s details after finishing the ‘To Bunny, Our Beloved Daughter’ exclusive dungeon within the Bunny questline.

As a gamer, I resolved an problem where Bunny’s Lightning Emission would activate even if there wasn’t any movement distance when hopping over a box or wall.

# Developer’s Note We appreciate Bunny’s ability to run swiftly and release an electrifying power to defeat her foes. As descendants, Bunny’s strength increases with the distance she covers. Initially, we had envisioned her utilizing her skills in a more open setting rather than being confined in corners. To enhance her gameplay experience, we made some adjustments. Furthermore, our system has detected the usage of several macros and unauthorized software, such as the rolling in place macro. We are taking measures against these tools and aim to maintain a fair and enjoyable gaming environment for all players.

As a seasoned video game developer with years of experience under my belt, I have encountered various technical issues during game development. One such issue that came across my desk was intermittent sound effects when Kyle’s “Superconductivity Thrusters” landed on the floor in our latest game.

– Fixed an issue where the charging motion was repeated with Kyle’s ‘Repulsion Dash’.

(3) Modules

Resolved a problem that prevented the “Arche Acceleration” module from enhancing the velocity and range of projectiles.

As someone who has spent years developing and optimizing complex software systems, I can relate all too well to the frustration of encountering a bug that seemingly defies explanation. In this instance, I recall an issue we faced with Ajax’s ‘Body Enhancement’ module not displaying the maximum shield level accurately upon moving to a new map location.

As a gamer, I resolved an problem where the attack power of the “Shoot Focus” firearm module wasn’t being multiplied but rather added up in the game.

– Fixed an issue where the module list scroll was reset to the top after Module Enhancement.

(4) Mission

As a gamer, I resolved an problem that occurred when I’d enter the Vulgus Strategic Outpost and the initial monsters there got slain instantly. Consequently, no new monsters would appear.

– Fixed an issue where the next quest could not be started under certain circumstances.

– Fixed an issue where the sphere would tremble when it was far away during the Named Monster’s sphere gimmick.

Resolved a problem that stopped the modification of a field by eliminating the protective barrier established during the “Upper Hatchery” mission at the White-night Gulch Hatchery.

Resolved a problem causing monsters to appear in the White-night Gulch ‘Fortress Outskirts’ without initiating a battle.

# Developer’s Note The Fortress Outskirts have emerged as a go-to farming zone since the game’s launch, attracting numerous monsters. Our team enjoys the fast-paced “run and gun” style of play, emphasizing movement, shooting, and explosions in a looter shooter. However, we didn’t intend for players to merely stand still and collect monsters without engaging in combat. A game where everyone remains stationary would lose its appeal quickly. To address this, we made an adjustment. Monster spawns will remain constant due to the active Vulgus Resource Storages, but they won’t increase when players are idle. Keep moving, shoot, and create some explosions! The monster population will continue to grow.

(5) Field

As a seasoned software developer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve encountered my fair share of intermittent bugs that make me pull my hair out. One such issue that left me utterly baffled was when the ‘Code Analyzer’ kept popping up unpredictably while I was trying to work with the Encrypted Vault in Hard difficulty mode.

In that specific part of the prologue, if you fell while employing a grappling hook, you would resurface with the “Mission Not Completed” label instead of continuing the game. To clarify, this issue has been rectified.

(6) Void Intercept Battle

Resolved an occasional problem that prevented the Removal from taking effect and kept the grappling hook active throughout battles.

(7) Miscellaneous

Resolved a problem preventing the collection of identical items when buying more than one of the same product.

# Developer’s Extra Note Your enthusiasm and engagement have been a source of motivation for us. In the upcoming Hotfix 1.0.3, you’ll find numerous improvements aimed at enhancing your gameplay experience. We noticed a video in the community showcasing a quick Colossus defeat through module switching. Although we couldn’t address this issue in this update, our intention is not to encourage such strategies. The Dev Team prefers skills, weapons, modules, and external components to be part of the strategy rather than making combat monotonous. We aim for intricate build research but discourage strategies that require cumbersome control adjustments. Mark your calendars for August 1st, as we’ll be releasing Descendant Luna and Ultimate Valby, new intercept battles, ultimate weapons, modules, external components, and skins in the upcoming 5th week update.
