The First Descendant: Ultimate Gley Build Guide

As a seasoned veteran of The First Descendant, let me tell you, Ultimate Gley is my go-to girl when I want to dance with the big bosses and come out unscathed. This build is nothing short of a game changer!

In the game “The First Descendant,” it’s generally agreed that Gley is one of the hardest characters to acquire due to its challenging drop rates.

With the appropriate setup, you can swiftly defeat many bosses using Gley. Her utility extends across the entire game, making her a versatile character. Given her complexity, I’d be happy to walk you through all the essential details about her.

What is the difference between Gley and Ultimate Gley?

Fundamentally, what sets the Ultra Descendants apart from their ordinary counterparts is that they possess unique abilities enabled by Special Transcendent Capabilities. Luckily, Gley’s top-tier Transcendent Ability doesn’t come with this limitation, implying that an ordinary Gley can still be a suitable choice.

The offspring from the Ultimate lineage typically boast higher starting statistics compared to the norm. It’s interesting to note that this disparity is significantly greater in the case of Gley, as the Ultimate form possesses a substantial boost in DEF.

In standard gameplay, Gley can handle any content without issue; however, a distinction becomes apparent during high-level or end-game tasks.

Gley, the Flexible Heir, boasts an intricate collection of abilities. To put it simply, among all characters in the game, I’ve employed her most frequently, making her my preferred choice for taking down bosses.

Instead of crafting an adorable mobbing build centered around her Life Siphon ability, it pales in comparison to what Bunny, Valby, and Freyna can achieve. Given that a suboptimal build isn’t beneficial for recommendation, we are concentrating on a setup that emphasizes high damage weaponry instead.

The construction of the build heavily depends on a unique skill that Gley possesses during her Frenzied phase. You can easily switch between states using Gley’s “Frenzied” ability, and you will always be aware when she is in this state because her hair stands up and turns white.

Remember, when you’re in a Frenzied state, you tend to take more damage. Therefore, it would be wise to switch out if you sustain heavy damage. Alternatively, you can opt for “Increased Sensitivity” when not in a frenzy, which grants a 30% bonus to your movement speed.

Here are the modules I recommend using:

ModuleEffect at Max Rank
Massive SanguificationAugments Life Siphon to absorb Life Spheres during Non-Frenzied state.
Multi-ManeuveringGrants 3 Grapple charges instead of 2. Slightly reduced range and increases cooldown.
Increased HPMax HP +218.5%
Stim AccelerantMax HP +234%, Max MP -15%
Shield Conversion (DEF)DEF +166.8%, Max Shield -36.5%
HP CollectorInstantly recover 9% HP when defeating an enemy. The effect has a 2-second cooldown.
Nimble FingersSkill Cooldown -25.6%
MP ConversionSkill Cooldown -36.5%, Max MP -15%
Skill ExtensionSkill Duration +36.5%
Maximize DurationSkill Duration +40%, Skill Power Modifier -21.1%
Focus on DimensionDimension Skill Power Modifier +68.2%, Skill Cooldown -6.1%
Focus on Non-AttributeNon-Attribute Skill Power Modifier +77.2%, Skill Cooldown -6.1%

In simpler terms, we can’t let Gley utilize Shields, but this disadvantage works to our benefit through the technique known as Shield Conversion, resulting in a significant increase in Defense. Additionally, we employ Mods like Increased HP, Stim Accelerant, and HP Collector to enhance survivability. To be honest, when equipped with these Modules, Gley transforms into an unstoppable force. My version has a Defense of 34,000 and Health Points (HP) of 25,000, which is more than enough, even with careless play.

Moving forward, let’s concentrate on the aspects of Cooldown and Duration for abilities like Nimble Fingers, MP Conversion, Skill Extension, and Maximizing Duration.

As a gamer, I pour a lot of resources into enhancing Cooldown Reduction because I want to keep cycling through Gley’s Frenzied Increased Sensory ability. When this ability is activated, it gives me unlimited ammo, and by reducing the cooldown, I can make it active again before the infinite ammo effect runs out, ensuring a smooth gameplay loop.

Instead of concentrating solely on attributes, we should pay equal attention to dimensions as well since they both contribute to an extended Skill Cooldown. Moreover, the power enhancements enable us to deploy Ultimate Gley’s Massacre when desired.

It sounds more complicated than it is, but if we nail the cooldowns, we can infinitely fire a weapon by recasting Increased Sensory without ever using a single bullet.

Regrettably, it seems we can’t achieve the necessary cooling period solely through Modules; instead, we need to lean on our Reactor for additional processing power.

Best Reactor for Ultimate Gley in The First Descendant

I hate Reactor farming as much as you do, but it’s not too bad for Gley. In fact, it doesn’t even matter what Element or Mounting your Reactor has unless you’re using a Massacre build. All we care about are the sub-stats.

For your Reactor, the optimal build, often referred to as the “God Roll,” focuses on improving Skill Recharge Speed. It’s best if this attribute is of Gold rarity for enhanced efficiency, though a Purple rarity should still work just fine.

I’m working towards improving my “Gold Skill Duration” as a secondary stat, but I haven’t managed to get it so far. For those who are all about optimization, this is the stat you should aim for.

Best Weapons for Ultimate Gley in The First Descendant

You can do some crazy things with Gley’s Weapon Platform build, and I highly recommend pairing it with the Executor Shotgun. The Executor has a unique ability that boosts its critical rate upon consecutive hits.

Despite its modest size, the quality of the magazine is compensated, yet it’s not an issue for Gley, given her limitless ammunition. With the Weapon Platform build and the Executioner, she can swiftly eliminate bosses in just seconds.

It’s so powerful that I comfortably solo most bosses in the game, including the hard mode Collosi.

The Executioner is arguably “best in slot,” but you can have fun with Greg’s Reversed Fate and its orbital barrages.

Ultimate Gley significantly enhances already top-notch weapons in the game, while also being the premier Descendant for experimenting with unusual firearm technology.
