Sony will likely announce the free PlayStation Plus games for March 2026 on February 25th, but one of the titles has already been revealed by a trustworthy source. Sadly, it appears the recent pattern of underwhelming free games on PS Plus will continue.
The free games offered with the basic PS Plus subscription (the Essential tier) haven’t been very exciting lately. They often cater to very specific interests with games that are just okay, or even below average. For example, the main game offered in February 2026 was a boxing game called Undisputed, which received mixed reviews. While it’s a decent game, it won’t appeal to players who aren’t already fans of boxing. Even a leaked upcoming game, while scoring a bit better, still seems to target a very narrow audience.
Reliable leaker Billbil-kun claims that PGA Tour 2K25 will be the main free game offered on PS Plus in March 2026. While sports games are generally popular, many people who would want to play PGA Tour 2K25 likely already own it, making it an unappealing freebie for others. Those who don’t own it might not be drawn in, but for those who do, it’s a better game overall than Undisputed. Ultimately, while PGA Tour 2K25 is a good game, it’s not the most exciting choice for PS Plus subscribers. It received some criticism for things like in-game purchases, minor technical issues, and a slow progression system, but fans generally enjoyed its realistic gameplay, satisfying swings, and fun multiplayer options.
Rearrange the covers into the correct US release order.
Okay, so as a PlayStation Plus member – whether I’m on the Essential, Extra, or Premium tier – I’ll be able to grab a new game starting March 3rd, and it looks like there will be at least two others available too! We’ll have to wait for the official announcement to see the full list for March, though. Just a heads-up, I need to claim this month’s freebies before March 3rd, or I’ll miss out!
PS Plus Subscribers Can Claim 4 Free Games Until March 3
- Undisputed
- Subnautica: Below Zero
- Ultros
- Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Several games were recently available to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Undisputed offers a boxing simulation experience, while Subnautica: Below Zero is the sequel to the popular original, with Subnautica 2 on the way. Ultros is a unique and visually interesting Metroidvania, and Ace Combat 7 delivers classic combat flight action. These were available for a few weeks before February’s PS Plus Extra lineup, which was a much stronger offering and continues the trend of PS Plus Extra being the best value. February’s games included Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Neva, Season: A Letter to the Future, Monster Hunter Stories, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Venba, Echoes of the End, and Rugby 25.
While PS Plus Extra offers more games overall than the Essential and Premium tiers combined, it also stands out because the games themselves are generally better. Reaching a broad audience is key, and PS Plus Extra makes that easier by adding about 10 new games each time, compared to the 3 offered by Essential and the infrequent 1 from Premium.
Early PS Plus Reveals
Besides PGA Tour 2K25, PlayStation Plus subscribers will also get some other new games in March. Sony recently announced that Big Walk will be available on the Essential tier this year. PS Plus Premium members can look forward to Tekken: Dark Resurrection (originally for PSP) in March, though some fans aren’t thrilled with that choice. And Time Crisis will be added to the service in May.
The latest news isn’t great, but the overall pattern remains: the Essential and Premium tiers aren’t performing as well. However, PS Plus Extra has been keeping the service afloat, and it’s expected to continue doing so in March.
