In the adventure known as Avowed, the third destination players encounter on their journey is called Shatterscarp. Upon arriving at the Thirdborn settlement, you’ll come across a variety of individuals, one of whom is Chiko. During the Heart of Valor quest, she seeks your aid because her uncle Keipo has been feeling low. She asks you to share tales of your exciting adventures with him.
Finishing the Heart of Valor mission in the game Avowed offers players several types of rewards including weapons, full armor sets, and distinctive charms. Yet, remember that these rewards are contingent upon the decisions made by the player.
How To Trigger Heart Of Valor Quest In Avowed
As soon as you step into Thirdborn, there’s Chiko, marked with an exclamation point over her head. Speaking to her will unveil the fact that her uncle Keipo has been downcast for quite some time now, despite being renowned as an excellent hunter.
When conversing with him, it’s clear he’s aware you’re representing Chiko. He seems unenthused about your narratives, yet he asks you to fetch the Heart of the Leviathan from the Sand Sea Ruins so he can catch a final glimpse of it.
To reach the Sand Sea Ruins, which are located primarily towards the east of Shatterscarp, you’ll first notice a locked entrance. To unlock it, venture southeast from the entrance, ascend the stairs and the wooden platform, then leap into the hole below. Once inside the ruins, spend time exploring thoroughly to collect all hidden items. After defeating a bear and navigating some traps, you’ll eventually stumble upon the Heart of the Leviathan.
As you leave, Chiko will intercept you with a startling revelation: she’s been reading her uncle’s diary, which suggests he intends to pulverize the Leviathan’s Heart to concoct a deadly potion for consumption. Upon your return to Keipo, you’ll have the option of whether or not to hand over the heart to him.
Should You Give The Heart Of The Leviathan To Keipo?
In the Heart of Valor mission, various results may arise when players make their decisions. It’s disclosed that Keipo possesses the Dreamscourge, expressing a wish to meet his end with dignity as a human instead of being known as a beast.
Give Keipo The Leviathan Heart
If you hand over the heart to Keipo, he’ll express gratitude and enhance Umpara’s Spear by +1. Later, Weathered Journal can be brought up, prompting Keipo to acknowledge his mistakes and apologize. In this scenario, you have the choice: either reveal the truth to Thirdborn or maintain the secret. Upon departure, Chiko will be with Hajime, who’ll ask if you provided him with the heart.
When you verify this, it’s clear that she’s extremely distraught and doesn’t seem to pay attention to anything you say, even if you disclose that Keipo carries the Dreamscourge. You could offer Hajime the Worn Journal so he can inform Thirdborn about their hero being a deceiver, or not. If you choose to unveil the truth, Chiko will be heartbroken since her uncle is not the hero she believed him to be.
Don’t Give Keipo The Leviathan Heart
Should you fail to present the Heart of the Leviathan to Keipo or bring up the Weathered Journal, he’ll refuse to grant you the weapon as a reward, and may ask you to depart, regardless of your empathy towards his circumstances.
When characters Chiko and Hajime make an appearance, players have the option to either hold onto the Heart of the Leviathan or pass it along. Should you decide not to give it to Chiko, he’ll express his appreciation and bestow upon you the Stormdancer set – a distinctive medium armor that’s one of a kind. As for the Envoy, they possess the power to either disclose the truth about the Weathered Journal or maintain silence on the matter.
A more suitable decision might involve withholding the heart from him and concealing the actual events. It is also possible for players to gather all the rewards, without necessarily handing over the heart to Keipo. Here’s a way to accomplish this:
- Speak with Keipo and tell him you know he wants to kill himself.
- Refuse to give him his heart and apologize.
- Mention the Weathered Journal and Umpara after you refuse to give him the heart.
- Assure him you won’t reveal his secret.
- Receive Umpara’s Spear +1.
- If you don’t have the journal, lie to him that you didn’t find the heart to get the weapon.
- Talk with Chiko and Hajime.
- Say “Let me hold onto it. I’ll take it far away and keep it safe” to keep the Heart of Leviathan as a Trinket.
- When asked if there’s something else, say “[Lie] No, that was all.”
- Reveal he has the Dreamscourge.
- Receive the Stormdancer set.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my delight in the turn of events. The players were showered with every reward they deserved, and Thirdborn remains oblivious to the true character of their hero. Even Kai, a man of great wisdom, would concur that this was the most favorable outcome.
