One of the most esteemed esports tournaments ever held is The International. Known for hosting some of the biggest prize money in competitive gaming, it consistently attracts a massive audience of millions each year. Often viewed as the peak of the industry by many, The International will make its return in 2025.
Details regarding the schedule and layout of The International 2025, organized by Valve, have been broadly outlined, with specifics still to come. As new information becomes available from Valve, this page will be updated accordingly. For now, delve into the following text to familiarize yourself with the tentative schedule and format for The International 2025.
The Road to The International 2025
Starting this Thursday, September 4th, The International tournament by Valve begins and continues till Sunday, 7th September. This event consists of two Swiss rounds followed by elimination stages. Out of the 16 teams invited initially, only 8 will advance past these stages.
The remaining eight teams will advance to the arena environment for The International proper.
Here’s how The Road to The International will work in 2025:
Kicking off the journey this year to The International, it’s all about a five-round Swiss tournament format. For the initial three days, I find myself matched against 15 other teams in best-of-three battles. Interestingly, we’ll face opponents with similar series records – a team at 2 wins and 0 losses will square off against another undefeated squad, while a team at 1 win and 3 losses will engage in combat with a fellow struggling team. A fourth victory secures my spot at The International, while a fourth defeat sadly means I’m out of the race.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that after five rounds of Swiss system, the three teams who have clinched four victories will have their tickets punched for The International. On the flip side, the unfortunate three teams with four losses will be bid farewell from the tournament.
The next phase will see the ten surviving teams locking horns in a nail-biting elimination round, where the strongest will face off against the weakest. In this high-stakes battle, the five victorious teams will earn their spots at The International, while the other five contenders will bow out of the competition.
The International 2025 Schedule
2023’s The International tournament kicks off on Thursday, September 11. The event spans across four days, concluding with the Grand Final on Sunday, September 14.
Eight qualified teams will face off in the thrilling atmosphere of the Barclays Arena, where the victorious team remains undetermined but stands to claim a substantial, unspecified prize fund, along with the esteemed honor of lifting the Aegis.
FAQs
Where is The International 2025?
2025’s International event is scheduled to occur at the Barclays Arena in Hamburg, Germany. This premier location boasts a seating capacity of 15,000, and given its popularity, it’s expected to sell out swiftly as The International 2025 draws near.
What is The International 2025 Prize Pool?
For The International 2025, the amount of the prize pool hasn’t been decided yet. Last year’s competition offered a purse of $2.7 million, but in 2021 it broke a record by reaching an impressive $40 million. Despite a quick drop since then, anticipation is high that this year it will be at least $2.5 million.
How Many Teams Are at The International 2025?
As an eager participant, I’m thrilled to embark on the journey towards The International 2025, starting with a group of sixteen privileged teams. However, the competitive nature of this event means that elimination brackets will whittle down the number of contenders by eight. In the end, only eight teams will triumph and secure their places at The International 2025.
Which Team is the Favourite to Win The International 2025?
It’s challenging to predict the outcome at this stage of the competition. However, it’s worth noting that Team Liquid won The Invitational last time, while Gaimin Gladiators placed second in the previous two events. This raises the question: Could 2023 be the year when Gaimin Gladiators, the European organization, seizes victory?
