Summary
- Patch 2.0.1 fixes campaign unlockables lost due to Patch 2.0.0 in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PS5.
- Players must load a save from before April 3 to access restored items.
- The PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered received positive reviews after a smoother launch than its predecessor.
The most recent update for “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” on PlayStation has rectified a significant problem concerning the game’s unlockable items, an issue that emerged following the implementation of the previous update. This latest update was released to coincide with the highly anticipated launch of the game on PC on April 3, 2025.
Approximately one year following its release on PlayStation 5, “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” was eventually released for PC and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Simultaneously, the PS5 remastered version, launched in January 2024, experienced a significant enhancement with Patch 2.0.0. This update introduced several new features, including additional No Return characters, maps, trophies, and a cosmetic item inspired by “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,” which is also accessible in the PC version. Unfortunately, among these additions, players of “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” encountered an issue that reset their progress on unlockables. Fortunately, this problem has since been rectified in the most recent version of the game.
Naughty Dog developers have just rolled out Patch 2.0.1 for the remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 on PS5, correcting an issue where some players lost items like skill points and extra weapon holsters in campaign mode after installing Patch 2.0.0. However, this fix only applies if you load a save made before April 3rd, the day the problematic patch was released. Unfortunately, those who replaced their previous save with one created afterward and before upgrading to Patch 2.0.1 might still be unable to retrieve their unlocked items. This advice comes from Naughty Dog’s earlier announcement when they first acknowledged this bug, urging players not to overwrite their saves. The team behind The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is currently working on resolving the loss of skins in No Return mode as well.
With the PC adaptation of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, Naughty Dog successfully steered clear of the bumpy debut experienced by the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 in 2023. Contrastingly, the remake of the sequel received a warmer welcome at its launch compared to the original game’s remake, which was marred by technical issues upon its initial release. At the moment, the newly launched title has garnered an impressive “Very Positive” rating from over 4.9K users on Steam based on their feedback.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but notice the perfect timing of the PC launch for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, coinciding with the premiere of The Last of Us Season 2 on April 13. It’s intriguing to consider whether this live-action series might ignite renewed curiosity in the post-apocalyptic game, as we’ve seen happen with other video game adaptations.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Update 2.0.1 Patch Notes
- Restores campaign unlockables, such as additional weapon holster and skill points, which had previously been lost after continuing progress from a save created prior to Patch 2.0.0.
