Naughty Dog in partnership with PlayStation have quietly released an enhanced version titled “The Last of Us Complete” for PS5. The initial release of “The Last of Us“, a game that garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success, has given birth to an ongoing franchise. Remarkably, the HBO adaptation of the same name has also gained significant popularity, with the second season premiering on Sunday, April 13.
After releasing the original “Last of Us” and its expansion “Left Behind”, Naughty Dog went on to create “The Last of Us Part 2” in 2020. This was followed by a PS5 remake of the first game, titled “The Last of Us Part 1”. Then came “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered”, which upgraded the sequel for Sony’s latest console with additional features and the No Return roguelike mode. Interestingly, not long after the release of “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” on PC, we find ourselves surprised by an unexpected release – “The Last of Us Complete”.
Now up for grabs on the PlayStation Store, the complete digital edition of “The Last of Us,” priced at $99.99, combines “The Last of Us Part 1” and a remastered version of “The Last of Us Part 2” in one convenient package. If you prefer a physical copy, head over to PlayStation’s website to pre-order the “The Last of Us Complete: Collector’s Edition,” available for $109.99. This edition is set to release on July 10 and includes a steelbook case, “The Last of Us: American Dream” comics, and four lithographic art prints.
The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition Contents
- Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 Remastered for PS5
- Steelbook Case
- The Last of Us: American Dream Comics
- 4 Lithographic Art Prints
- Release Date: July 10
- Price: $109.99
The lithographs are truly impressive. One depicts characters Joel and Ellie from “The Last of Us Part 1” standing side by side, another showcases them riding horses. Yet another is a creative take on the original game’s cover art in the form of a clicker figure, while the last one features Abby and Ellie from “The Last of Us Part 2”. The Collector’s Edition content might persuade hardcore fans of “The Last of Us” franchise to purchase the two games once more, but only time will tell.
Fans of “The Last of Us” series might find the title “The Last of Us Complete” a bit ominous due to recent speculations that there may not be a part 3. Given the term “Complete” implies this is the franchise’s entire story, fans could potentially look forward only to the HBO series for new content. At present, Naughty Dog is engaged in developing a PS5 game titled “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet“, but there are whispers of another project in development as well.
