Summary
- Season 2 will mostly stay true to the plot of The Last of Us Part 2.
- Bella Ramsey learned to play “Take On Me” in Season 2, which the creators praised.
- Expect the inclusion of Pearl Jam’s “Future Days” song in Season 2.
With the arrival of Season 2 for “The Last of Us”, fans can look forward to recognizing numerous exciting nods reminiscent of “The Last of Us Part 2”. Notably, a cherished scene between Dina and Ellie has been enhanced by Bella Ramsey’s dedicated efforts to ensure its accurate portrayal in the series.
Despite some alterations in Season One of The Last of Us, such as giving Bill and Frank their personal backstories, introducing Kathleen, the ruthless leader of Kansas City’s resistance group, and showing Ellie’s birth scene, Season 2 is expected to closely follow its primary narrative. For those unacquainted with the sequel, it will undeniably delve into some very grim topics. Fans have already witnessed that Joel undergoes therapy in Season 2 with Gail, a marijuana-using therapist living in Jackson, but things don’t appear to be going smoothly as it was revealed that Joel had to kill her husband, Eugene. However, the main focus of the premiere was the strained bond between Ellie and Joel, illustrating how much they have changed since their earlier days. As the episodes progress, further challenges are expected for the duo as heart-wrenching events occur. Beneath the show’s gloomy façade, however, one uplifting moment can be appreciated.
Bella Ramsey Learned How To Play A-Ha’s Take On Me for Season 2
On VGTV, a popular Norwegian entertainment news channel, creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann of the TV series “The Last of Us” revealed an exciting detail about Season 2. Not only will Bella Ramsey perform the famous A-Ha song “Take On Me” from the game, but she also taught herself to play it on guitar. Impressed by her dedication, Druckmann shared that he found it incredible to witness this scene being filmed, while Mazin expressed his awe at simply being there as a fan and observing the heartwarming performance unfold.
Druckmann personally captured a heartwarming instance on his phone and forwarded it to Paul Savoy of A-Ha, who is known for penning the hit song “Take on Me”. Savoy was thrilled to see this classic tune featured in Season 2 of The Last of Us. Isabella Merced, the actress portraying Dina, admitted she became emotional during the scene where Ramsey played the song, stating that it held great significance for her and the set was meticulously designed to create a magical atmosphere.

It’s possible that a significant tune from the video games might feature in the second season of “The Last of Us”. During an interview on the HBO show’s podcast, creators Mazin and Druckmann mentioned that they deemed Pearl Jam’s song “Future Days” so important for Joel and Ellie’s connection, it had to be incorporated into Season 2 in some fashion, as its significance is deeply meaningful to their relationship.
The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on HBO at 9 pm EST every Sunday until May 25.
