Additionally, she mentioned that these floors were significant because they were where the initial Cordyceps fungus infections occurred back in 2003. However, getting teams to these levels had been problematic due to limited access. Consequently, Sergeant Park dispatched a team into the basement through a functional stairwell that hadn’t been caved in yet.

The group, comprising a soldier named Leon (and others), explored areas B1 and B2. On B2, they discovered Cordyceps growth on the walls and floor. They anticipated finding infected individuals in B3, yet chose to continue their search on the final level. Ellie understands that the WLF avoids this building due to the infected.
