Currently, feedback for the second season of The Last of Us is being shared, and generally, it’s favorable with a few exceptions. This fresh set of episodes has been eagerly awaited as it’s been over two years since the premiere of the first season, which captivated audiences globally.
The highly acclaimed series makes its comeback, delighting fans across the globe, and it’s clear from the reviews that there’s a lot more content to unpack in the second season. Previous predictions are proving accurate – The Return of The Last of Us season two corresponds to the initial half of the 2020 launch of The Last of Us Part II video game.
Makes Sense
Adapting The Last of Us Part II into a live-action series was bound to be challenging due to its extensive scope, encompassing multiple years and various locations, as well as the dual perspectives of its two playable characters, each offering unique insights into the game’s dramatic and cinematic narrative.
Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann previously hinted that adapting all the material from The Last of Us Part II could take around two or three seasons, with additional content exclusive to the TV series also being developed.
As a gamer, I’ve got to say, the initial seven episodes of The Last of Us Part II’s adaptation seem to account for roughly half of the game. Some folks are mentioning that it feels a bit ‘stretched out’ when put side by side with the first season, where the entire game was condensed into one binge-worthy sprint.
It’s quite possible that establishing a dramatic turning point, leading towards a challenging shift in the storyline for the upcoming third season (which may take another 2 to 3 years to release), will be a major focus as the plot unfolds.
The second season of The Last of Us will debut on April 13, airing one episode every week thereafter.
