The Most Anticipated Games Of 2026

2025 was a fantastic year for gaming, with both major sequels like Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong, and unexpected successes such as Blue Prince and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be even more exciting, and here’s a look at the most anticipated games coming next year.

This list includes only fully released games that are available on more than one platform. Games still in development, even if they have a planned release date in the future (like 2026), aren’t included. We’ll share a separate list of the most exciting games that are exclusive to consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

As of now, all of these games below are currently scheduled for a release next year.

What Are The Most Anticipated Games Of 2026?

Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom recently unveiled the next installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem, at Summer Game Fest 2025. The game introduces a new main character, Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst who is investigating a death at the Wrenwood Hotel. Built with the RE Engine, Resident Evil Requiem will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the Switch 2 starting February 27, 2026 – just before the series celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Gears of War: E-Day

Okay, so I’m super hyped about Gears of War: E-Day! It’s a prequel that takes us right back to Emergence Day – that’s when the Locust first burst out of the ground and everything went crazy. We get to play as a younger Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, 14 years before the original game. The team at The Coalition is building it (with some help from People Can Fly), and it’s coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC. The best part? It’s going to be available on day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, so I don’t even have to buy it separately!

Forza Horizon 6

The next Forza Horizon game, Forza Horizon 6, was revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2025 and will be set in Japan. While specific details are still under wraps, more information will be released in early 2026. The game is slated to launch next year on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 version coming later. Like Gears of War: E-Day, Forza Horizon 6 will be included with Xbox Game Pass.

Halloween

The new game, Halloween, lets you take on the role of either the iconic Michael Myers or one of the people trying to protect the town of Haddonfield. You can also play a single-player story mode that retells the original Halloween movie from Michael Myers’ perspective. Excitingly, the original film’s director, John Carpenter, is involved as an executive producer.

Halloween is scheduled to release on September 8, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Phantom Blade Zero

Phantom Blade Zero, revealed in 2023, is a highly anticipated action RPG. The story centers around Soul, a skilled assassin who works for a mysterious and influential group called ‘The Order.’ Soul is wrongly accused of killing the leader of The Order and injured during his escape. He’s received treatment that will only last for 66 days, and during that time, he must uncover the true killer.

Although there’s no confirmed release date yet, most people believe the game will come out on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026. We expect to learn the exact date before the end of the year.

007: First Light

The creators of the Hitman series, IO Interactive, are reimagining James Bond in a brand new game. Called 007: First Light, the game tells an original story about how James Bond became the famous agent we know. Players will experience Bond’s early days as a 26-year-old MI6 operative, on a crucial mission that will determine if he earns his 00 agent status.

While the game features a brand new story, it will draw elements from the existing James Bond books and films to feel like a natural part of that world.

The game features both familiar faces like M, Miss Moneypenny, and Q, alongside new characters such as Dr. Selina Tan and DGSE agent Miss Roth. It will be released on March 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

TT Games is releasing a new LEGO Batman game that brings together heroes and villains from the character’s entire 80+ year history. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, unveiled at Gamescom 2025, features an expansive open-world Gotham City to explore with seven playable characters. The game world is even bigger than that of Batman: Arkham Knight. It’s scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Fable

After being announced over five years ago, the highly anticipated game Fable is now expected to release in 2026. This will be the first new Fable game since 2012’s Fable: The Journey, and it’s set to launch on both Xbox Series and PC.

Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series, revealed the first trailer for Fable in 2023, initially aiming for a 2025 release. However, Microsoft later announced the game would now launch in 2026. Fable is planned for release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and will be available through Xbox Game Pass.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an upcoming action-adventure game set in Paris during World War II, developed by Skydance New Media and Marvel Games. Players will control both Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther from that time period, as they fight against the growing threat of Hydra. The game will also let players use Gabriel Jones and Nanali as playable characters. The project is being led by Amy Hennig, the creative force behind the Uncharted series. Originally planned for 2025, the release date has been moved to 2026 so the developers can further refine the game.

Grand Theft Auto 6

After a 13-year wait, the newest Grand Theft Auto game, Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA), is coming soon. The game returns to a setting inspired by Florida, called Leonida, and will feature a brand new story with two main characters: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Players will be able to explore areas modeled after Miami (Vice City), the Everglades (Grassrivers), and the Florida Keys (Leonida Keys), as well as other locations.

Besides Duval and Caminos, the game features characters like Cal Hampton, a friend of Jason’s, Raul Bautista, a bank robber, and the well-known Boobie Ike, as well as several others.

Okay, so as of right now, the plan is for GTA 6 to drop on May 26, 2026. It’s coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which is awesome!
