9. Future Diary
A Battle Between 12 Where Only 1 Must Be Victorious To Be Deus’s Successor
Discovering some astonishing characteristics in technology is not uncommon, yet unearthing a diary on a device capable of foretelling the future is remarkable. At first, Yukiteru dismissed this ability, but it soon became evident that his phone possessed this uncanny power. Nevertheless, events take an intriguing and grim turn when one of his supposed fictional companions, Deus, invites him to participate in a game.
In this game, there are 11 other participants who possess diaries like Yukiteru’s. The objective of the game is for each character to eliminate the others, with the sole survivor becoming Deus’s successor. What makes this game ruthless is that it has no rules at all, allowing participants to employ any methods or degrees of force to secure their victory.
8. Juni Taisen
No One Is Intended To Survive
- Premiered: October 3, 2017
- Studio: Graphinica
Every 12 years, a lethal battle royale, named Jūni Taisen, unfolds. This fierce competition is among warriors embodying the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. These combatants are ruthless assassins who engage in mortal combat until only one remains alive. The ultimate survivor will be granted a single wish, regardless of how implausible it may seem.
This game might seem straightforward at first glance, but it’s a thrilling challenge indeed! At the outset, we all receive a lethal gem that grants us 12 hours to either claim the lives of our fellow players or face our own demise. The catch? Once the clock starts ticking, every participant is bound to succumb to the poison if they fail to eliminate everyone else before their time runs out. In this game, survival of the fittest takes on a whole new meaning as even the strongest among us may fall victim to the unpredictable twists and turns of fate.
7. Danganronpa: The Animation
Kill Or Be Killed
Pupils attend school for education, but the attendees of Hope’s Peak High School are there to compete in deadly contests. Makoto is thrilled about his admission into this prestigious institution, believing it admits only gifted individuals. However, the joy quickly fades when he finds himself trapped within the school alongside 14 other students, all under the watch of Monokuma – a malevolent robotic bear who has locked them in.
To evade punishment, a student has to carry out a murder and successfully elude detection during a classroom tribunal. If the culprit is correctly identified, they face execution; however, if they remain unnoticed, they escape while everyone else perishes. This rule transforms everyone into ruthless assassins in an atmosphere devoid of trust and governed by no restraining regulations.
6. Btooom!
Survival Game Of Explosions
Sakamoto’s gruesome demise was no doubt a result of an explosion, reducing his body into fragments. It’s easy to find enjoyment in such a game-like scenario, but when it turns from virtual reality to actual experience, it becomes a grim truth that Sakamoto experienced. As the leading player in the online game called “Btooom!”, he was accustomed to eliminating teammates for victory by gathering their chips.
In Sakamoto’s case, the fun abruptly stops when he’s thrust into a brutal, lethal game environment. Upon arrival, he experiences firsthand the torment he inflicts on others as a bomb is hurled at him. Remarkably, he lives through it, but his ordeal intensifies. To return to reality, he must navigate treacherous waters where trust is scarce.
5. Darwin’s Game
High School Student Stuck In A Ruthless Game
In a seemingly innocuous online game invitation, Kaname is drawn into a realm requiring lethal combat for survival. This game, dubbed Darwin’s Game, empowers participants with unique abilities called Sigils, which they employ in fighting and enduring. Initially, despite his adversaries’ attempts on his life without mercy, Kaname resisted the urge to take lives himself.
In the world around us, there’s nowhere truly secure, and upon witnessing the lifeless form of his comrade, Kaname is brutally awakened to this harsh truth. Faced with no other options, he must engage in battle, eliminate his adversaries, and struggle to stay alive in order to emerge victorious from this lethal game.
4. Tomodachi Game
A Game That Destroys Friendships
In this captivating anime I’m raving about, it’s shown that money can sow discord among the closest of bonds – in this case, between five friends. Yours truly and my comrades find ourselves ensnared in a perplexing and lethal game following the vanishing of funds earmarked for our class excursion. This game compels us to settle an enigmatic debt, adding another layer of mystery to our predicament!
Tomodachi Game is a merciless survival game, not due to graphic violence, but because it wreaks havoc on friendships and unveils human avarice. For someone like Yuichi, who deeply cherishes friendship, triumphing in this game necessitates going against everything he was brought up to believe. To emerge victorious, one must deceive, manipulate, and betray those most intimate to them.
3. Deadman Wonderland
A Prison That Forces Prisoners To Entertain The Public At The Expense Of Their Lives
Many potential issues can arise during a school outing. An apparently harmless excursion to a theme park in a prison takes a lethal turn when an enigmatic man slaughters all of Ganta’s classmates. As the sole survivor, he is falsely accused of the murders and transported to the prison he initially visited, where his ordeal becomes even more harrowing. As a captive, Ganta learns that there’s no room for the frail, as they are mercilessly eliminated by the stronger inmates.
In order for Ganta to prove his innocence, he needs to stay vigilant and abide by the regulations within the prison, as doing so will increase his chances of surviving long enough to clear his name. However, the amusement park-like activities in this prison are dangerous, with hidden death traps that can lead to immediate fatalities if one loses the game.
2. Gantz
A Deadly Game That Gives Its Participants The Rare Chance To Return To Life After Dying
An unselfish deed to shield a homeless man from being struck by a train results in Kei’s own demise, as he takes the impact instead. However, his existence doesn’t cease there; instead, he finds himself in an enigmatic room populated by other recently departed souls, including his childhood companion Masaru. In this room with them is a massive black orb containing weapons and outfits for all.
In a different turn of phrase: They learn that their task involves tracking and eliminating extraterrestrial beings throughout the city. Yet, they are compelled to participate in this mission without option, for failure to do so would mean a permanent demise. Even if they succeed, their reward is merely a return to Earth.
1. King’s Game
Obey Or Die
In a mysterious scenario, Nobuaki and his classmates find themselves thrust into perilous predicaments from which they must extricate themselves, lest they face grisly penalties that could potentially lead to fatal consequences. These challenges are orchestrated by an anonymous figure known as King, who issues lethal directives to the students. Should they choose not to comply or fail in their tasks, the consequences are grim and often deadly.
In this scenario, there’s just one condition – the game must never end, and the sole means of staying alive is by adhering to the king’s commands. However, following his orders often results in brutal conflicts, widespread slaughter, and heinous actions.
