The Name Is Bond, Late Bond: IO Delays Its 007 Game

IO Interactive announced that their new James Bond game, 007: First Light, will now be released in May 2026. The delay of two months will allow the developers more time to refine and polish the game before launch.

007: First Light is a new game that tells the story of how James Bond became a super spy, showing his initial training and first missions. A recent trailer revealed that Lenny Kravitz will voice the game’s villain, which is his first time doing voice work for a video game.

The release of the 007 game, First Light, has been delayed. Originally planned for March 2026, it will now be available on May 27, 2026, according to an announcement from IO Interactive on their BlueSky page.

Why Has 007: First Light Been Delayed?

It looks like 007: First Light is almost ready! IO Interactive says the game is fully playable, but needs a little more development to fix any remaining bugs. We can expect more updates in early 2026.

Because 007: First Light’s delay is relatively short and it’s launching during the slower summer months, fans haven’t reacted negatively to the news. This gives the development team the breathing room they need to polish the game.

Early looks at the gameplay for 007: First Light are very promising. It seems to perfectly blend the stealth and action IO Interactive is famous for with the big, exciting moments you expect from a James Bond movie. We’re hoping the game launches as planned next May so fans can finally experience Bond’s origin story.
