On January 23rd, Microsoft will be holding its upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event, where they’ll unveil what gamers can anticipate on their platform.
Once more, the publisher offers a sneak peek at the upcoming content. And here’s the important detail: the event takes place on January 23rd at 6pm in the United Kingdom (which is 10am Pacific Time or 1pm Eastern Time).
Just in case you missed it: Xbox Developer Direct events feature the creators from the game development teams, showcasing their games, discussing their features, and sharing insights.
The games that will be talked about are “Doom: The Dark Age”, “South of Midnight”, and “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”.
Speaking of which, we can expect some surprises since the image for Xbox Developer Direct features three developers and an unknown fourth, so let’s keep our fingers crossed! Interestingly, Compulsion Games (known for Contrast and We Happy Few) have been chosen to showcase South of Midnight, a game that has recently received a detailed documentary-style video.
Sandfall Interactive is set to unveil the turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Here’s hoping for a release date announcement for Doom: The Dark Ages, as it’s a game that has generated much anticipation among gamers. All we have so far is the text: “Prepare to live the grand cinematic backstory of the DOOM Slayer’s fury in 2025.
According to our 2020 review of Doom Eternal, Mick stated that instead of attempting to be an interactive movie, political statement, or promotional campaign, it’s all about annihilating demons in the most rapid, messy, and productive manner. The goal is for you to obliterate each massive level (some of which are truly gigantic) with a joyful grin that fades only when you’re seething with anger due to an unexpected surge in difficulty. While Doom Eternal might not be the ideal video game, it undoubtedly embodies the essence of what a Doom game should be.
