The Official Replacement Of The One Piece Anime Has Been Confirmed

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.

For many years, *One Piece* has been a leading force in the manga world. The manga itself is exceptionally well-made, and it’s widely considered the most successful and best-written series ever. While *One Piece’s* success in manga is undeniable, the anime adaptation hasn’t quite reached the same high standard.

While the original One Piece anime has gotten much better over time, with improvements in animation and some truly fantastic episodes, it still remains the weakest part of the entire franchise. Fortunately, a new One Piece anime is in production, and it promises to be a significant step up. This version is far more ambitious and will be created by the renowned studio Wit Studio, offering a fresh take on the beloved series.

The New One Piece Anime Is Coming

Wit Studio Will Release The One Piece Remake

  • Wit Studio’s One Piece will be a better version of the Toei anime
  • Fans expect better animation, modern sound design, and better pacing

Toei Animation’s *One Piece* anime has been many fans’ introduction to the series, and for a lot of people, it’s a nostalgic part of their childhood. While it was enjoyable for its time, the anime as a whole doesn’t quite live up to expectations. Its biggest weakness is the pacing, which feels very slow and uneven.

Eiichiro Oda hopes the animators will really let their creativity shine in the new One Piece anime adaptation.

The *One Piece* anime is nearly as long as the manga, even though it hasn’t covered all the story yet – it’s missing about an entire story arc! If it continued at the same pace, the anime would actually end up with *more* episodes than the manga, which is pretty incredible.

The anime’s biggest weaknesses are its uneven pacing and outdated sound. The animation quality is also inconsistent, with noticeable dips, especially during the Fishman Island and Dressrosa arcs, despite some standout episodes like 614 and 727. While the animation has improved since the Wano arc, it still doesn’t compare to modern anime productions. This is the main reason a remake, ‘The One Piece’ by Wit Studio, was announced – to finally deliver an adaptation worthy of the source material.

One Piece Will Finally Have The Anime It Deserves

Wit Studio’s One Piece Will Be The Greatest Anime Adaptation

The upcoming One Piece anime by Wit Studio is expected to be the most faithful adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. It promises a much better pace, condensing over 1100 chapters into approximately 500-600 episodes. Viewers can also anticipate updated sound design and exceptionally high-quality animation that will match or even surpass Toei Animation’s best work. Importantly, the series will avoid unnecessary filler and drawn-out battles, staying true to the original story. Ultimately, this new anime aims to be a definitive version of One Piece, offering a strong alternative to Toei Animation’s long-running series.

One Piece Chapter 1162 is scheduled for release this week, as usual on Sundays. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday, most international fans will be able to read it on October 12, 2025. The chapter will be available for free on Manga Plus.
