One of my top games from 2019 was The Outer Worlds, which combined elements I adore in Fallout, but offered a unique sparkle and wit that felt fresh. Hearing about The Outer Worlds 2 at The Game Awards 2024 was a delightful surprise, and the humorous trailer they unveiled served as a fun reminder of its distinctive charm.
Ever since they’ve been hush-hush about it, I’ve been wondering what’s up with The Outer Worlds 2. With their hands full developing and launching Avowed, it makes sense that they’ve been a bit quiet. But when The Outer Worlds 2 Direct happened, it was clear they’re giving the sequel their all, full steam ahead!

2025’s Xbox Games Showcase occurs on June 8th. Following its conclusion, we immediately transition to the presentation for The Outer Worlds 2.
On April 9th, an Xbox Wire newsletter revealed that after the Xbox Games Showcase, a live stream event titled “The Outer Worlds 2 Direct” would give me a sneak peek into the creative process at Obsidian Entertainment. This exclusive behind-the-scenes look will feature fresh gameplay footage, intriguing details, and insights from the talented team responsible for crafting the sequel to the critically acclaimed first-person sci-fi RPG. As a gamer, I can hardly wait!
