In The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll likely spend a lot of time fighting creatures and people with various guns. If you’re not confident in your shooting skills, The Oracle is a weapon you can find early on that will significantly simplify combat. Here’s how to obtain it.
How to get The Oracle in The Outer Worlds 2
The Oracle is a fast-firing assault rifle that uses special long-range bullets. Its unique ability, Precision Optics, lets you automatically target enemies you’re aiming at. Once locked on, you’ll hit them even if your shots aren’t perfectly on target. If you move your aim away from the enemy, the lock-on will be lost. Plus, you can customize and improve the Oracle even further with two mod slots.
You can find the Oracle at the observatory in the Alexandra Monastery, located on Golden Ridge. You’ll visit this place as you progress through the main story, and it will also be where you complete the final mission on this planet. The closest fast travel point is Matriarch’s Mercy; the monastery is the building in the southeastern part of the map.
Okay, so after ringing those Bell Towers and going down the hallway – and definitely turning left! – you’ll find the Oracle chilling inside a glass case in the observatory. Right near that cool, one-of-a-kind gun display, there’s a podium – the Oracle Display Case Access Podium – that lets me get the weapon out. It actually gives me three different options for how to do it, which is pretty neat.
- Unlock the case with Abbot’s Universal Key
- Lockpick the podium with Lockpick 12 and a Mag-Pick
- Find a vulnerability in the podium with the Ex-Convict background
If you choose options two or three, you’ll get the gun immediately, which will be helpful for the challenging boss fight with Seer Landon Wiley. However, you’ll need to be very skilled at lockpicking to obtain the gun so early in the game.

To choose the first option, you’ll need to overcome Seer Wiley. This can be a tough battle unless you can persuade him to stand down using a Speech or Leadership skill of 5. If you succeed in calming him, you can then attempt to steal the Universal Key from him.
If you lack the necessary skills, or simply want a challenge, you’ll have to battle Wiley. This is made difficult by his guards and a device that constantly heals him. With so many enemies to defeat, be sure to use your companions’ skills to help you during the fight.
After you beat Wiley, take the Abbot’s Universal Key from his body and use it to open the glass case holding the Oracle.
