The Outer Zone and 11 bit studios announce new game ‘Death Howl’

11-bit Studios and The Outer Zone have unveiled a fresh new game titled Death Howl, and starting from Monday, you’ll be able to try it out on Steam with a demo version. To accompany this announcement, a trailer has been released, providing a glimpse into the captivating art style and gameplay – feel free to check it out at the end of this article.

As Ro, a grieving mother in the game “Death Howl,” I find myself traversing an eerie, stone-age Nordic-inspired world, yearning to be reunited with my lost son. My journey is fraught with relentless spirits, and I must engage them in grid-based, turn-driven battles that require both strategic finesse and the ability to adapt on the fly. To carve a path through despair and confront mighty adversaries and towering bosses, it’s crucial to craft and fine-tune my deck of abilities. Each realm I explore provides its own distinct deck types and mechanics, adding layers of complexity and depth to the strategic gameplay. I can augment my deck with shamanic totems to ensure I’m well-prepared for the lethal encounters that lie ahead.

This game combines strategy through turn-based play and deck construction, set in a world teeming with intrigue. Dark realms such as the Forest of Haunting Shadows and Meadows of Illusion await exploration. Each fresh location unveils new cards and pieces of Ro’s story, with love and grief forming its central themes.

Losing someone dear is something that everyone goes through – it’s simply a part of being human,” explained Malte Burup, Director, Artist, and Writer at The Outer Zone. “We think our storytelling style, enhanced by captivating lore and a unique blend of deck-building mechanics with soulslike exploration, will strike a chord with gamers from all walks.

If you can’t wait to see more, the demo will be launched at 6pm and can be accessed through our official Steam page. Check out the trailer here: [Trailer Link]
