As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the January 2025 PlayStation Plus monthly games drop has left me feeling rather conflicted. On one hand, we have Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a title that’s been a subject of controversy and disappointment for many. However, on the other hand, we have the timeless classic Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and the critically acclaimed indie gem The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.

Suicide Squad might not be the shining star it was hoped to be, but its inclusion in this month’s lineup is a testament to its enduring presence. And let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good anti-hero? As for the offline mode coming to the game, I can’t help but wonder if it will finally give us a chance to see how Harley Quinn handles a game over.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a nostalgic dream come true for me. I still remember the thrill of outrunning the cops back in 2010, and this remaster promises to bring that excitement into the modern era with updated visuals, cross-platform support, and all the game’s DLC included. It’s like getting a brand new sports car for Christmas!

But the true highlight of this month’s games is undoubtedly The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. This game has been on my wishlist since its initial release in 2013, and I can’t wait to dive back into its thought-provoking narrative. With improved visuals and updated quality-of-life improvements, this definitive edition promises to be a mind-bending journey that will keep me guessing for hours on end.

In closing, while Suicide Squad might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the inclusion of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe more than makes up for it. And as a bonus joke, I can’t help but wonder if the developers of Suicide Squad are secretly hoping that players will “commit” to finishing the game during its brief stay on PlayStation Plus.

Without a doubt, the addition of “Suicide Squad” has stirred up quite a debate. Regrettably, the game’s support comes to an end with Season 4: Episode 8 in January 2025, effectively ending the life of this live service title.

While it might not be completely extinct, it’s worth noting that an offline mode is being added to the game. This means that PlayStation Plus members who choose to download the game can still enjoy playing it.

Experienceing both perspectives – fleeing from cops during intense, speedy chases and then switching roles to become the pursuing officer in more high-speed chases – is akin to having two separate games combined into one thrilling package.
