8. The Egghead Incident
The World Lost Its Most Important Scientist (And Discovered A Horrible Truth)

- First Appearance: Chapter 1089 (Manga) Episode 1123 (Anime)
Recently, I found myself right in the heart of the Egghead Affair, an astounding turn of events that reshaped our world beyond recognition. As it turned out, Dr. Vegapunk – a genius scientist whose intellect is unmatched across the globe – had been delving into the mysteries of the Void Century. This revelation sent shockwaves through the World Government, prompting the Five Elders to activate a Buster Call against Egghead in an attempt to suppress his knowledge. Incredibly, they even made a rare visit to the island themselves!
Following a relentless and tumultuous clash with the Straw Hat Pirates and their comrades, culminating in the Five Elders metamorphosing into colossal beasts, we managed to claim Vegapunk’s life. However, this brilliant scientist had a secret up his sleeve: foreseeing his impending demise, he pre-arranged a message designed to be broadcast globally the instant his heart ceased beating. This revelation not only announced my own murder and silencing, but exposed a chilling truth – the world is gradually submerging beneath the waves, and the World Government remains idle in its efforts to prevent this calamity. On a day fraught with despair and drama, we discovered that the world’s most influential scientific mind had been struck down, and learned that our end may come sooner than anticipated.
7. Gol D. Roger’s Execution
The Beginning Of A New Age Of Piracy

- First Appearance: Chapter 1 (Manga) Episode 1 (Anime)
The beheading of Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, serves as the catalyst for this story, for it was then that everyone learned about a legendary treasure known as One Piece, sparking a new era of piracy. Yet, though this revelation was thrilling, the chilling execution of a beloved figure by the World Government, done merely to make a point, felt deeply aggravating and unjust.
Reflecting on it now, everyone who had the privilege of knowing Roger in life would have been left tearfully reminiscing during his demise, much like Buggy, Shanks, or Rayleigh. Had the Pirate King not seized the opportunity presented by his misfortune to bring about a global upheaval, the day of his passing would have been etched with an even deeper sense of sorrow in our hearts.
6. The Most Recent Levely
A King Was Murdered, A Princess Disappeared, And A Revolutionary Warrior Was Blamed For Everything

- First Appearance: Chapter 903 (Manga) Episode 878 (Anime)
Every four years, rulers from nations linked with the World Government assemble at Mary Geoise for a meeting, which is always marked by chaos and significant global events. The latest Levely, happening just before the Straw Hats arrived in Wano, was filled with surprising and emotional moments that had a massive worldwide repercussion.
On a pivotal day, Bartholomew Kuma was forced into slavery, which spurred his comrades in the Revolutionary Army to attempt a rescue mission. On two separate instances, Saint Charlos attempted to enslave Princess Shirahoshi; meanwhile, Saint Mjosgard met an unjust end for attempting to thwart him. However, the events of this critical day were overshadowed by the assassination of King Cobra, who was slain by Imu for asking too many probing questions. To add further distress, they falsely accused Sabo of the king’s murder, inadvertently elevating his status and fueling a fresh revolution against the World Government. The citizens of Arabasta were not only saddened by their deceased monarch but also concerned about the sudden vanishing of their queen, Nefertari Vivi, as they had been misled into believing she was abducted by Sabo, when in reality, she was hiding with Morgans and Wapol.
5. Kouzuki Oden’s Execution
The Sudden And Tragic Downfall Of A Peaceful Country

- First Appearance: Chapter 972 (Manga) Episode 974 (Anime)
As Kouzuki Oden journeyed alongside the Whitebeard Pirates and Roger Pirates, Kurozumi Orochi seized control of their homeland, Wano, and began ruling it ruthlessly with Kaido and the Beasts Pirates by his side. Upon returning home, Oden attempted to resist their oppressive rule, but was eventually deceived and controlled by these wicked antagonists, who swiftly arranged for his public execution after capturing him.
In a turn of events that left me utterly disheartened, I found myself in a predicament where my life hung by a thread. Oden, the valiant man, had negotiated a deal during his execution: if he could somehow keep his loyal retainers alive, they would be spared. As the hours ticked by and I was subjected to an agonizing ordeal of being boiled alive, I refused to give up, determined as ever. Alas, Orochi’s patience wore thin, and ultimately, he chose to end Oden’s life prematurely. That day will forever be etched in the minds of Wano’s inhabitants as a tragic moment when we bore witness to our beloved former shogun succumbing to a prolonged, excruciating death. It marked the beginning of Orochi’s reign of terror, transforming the once peaceful land into a desolate wasteland, filled with polluting factories, enslaved workers, and the ever-present specters of torture, death, and hunger.
4. The Summit War Of Marineford
A Violent Military Conflict That Had A Huge Impact On The World

- First Appearance: Chapter 552 (Manga) Episode 461 (Anime)
From my perspective as an onlooker, the tumultuous and brutal battle of Marineford stands out distinctly among the annals of One Piece’s rich history. This momentous event unfolded prior to the start of Luffy’s voyage. As the story’s protagonist, we were granted a front-row seat to this chaotic spectacle – a war waged between the Marines and the Whitebeard Pirates, who fought valiantly to save Portgas D. Ace from his impending execution, mirroring the fate of his father, Gol D. Roger.
Regrettably, neither party emerged victorious during the Summit War of Marineford. Tragically, Ace was brutally killed by Admiral Akainu, while Whitebeard lost his Devil Fruit to Blackbeard before eventually succumbing to his injuries. Moreover, it came to light that the One Piece truly exists, and viewers bore witness to the harsh and brutal nature of the World Government. This grim ending from One Piece serves as a stark reminder of its anti-war message.
3. The Sudden Erasure Of Lulusia Kingdom
The Most Shockingly Depressing World-Changing Event In The Series

- First Appearance: Chapter 1060 (Manga) Episode 1089 (Anime)
The series consistently portrays the World Government as corrupt, oppressive, and wicked, but the unexpected annihilation of the Lulusia Kingdom has given them an entirely different perspective. Once the Revolutionary Army sparked a rebellion among its citizens and deposed its ruler, Imu devised a seemingly flawless strategy to address this issue: he planned to utilize Lulusia as a guinea pig for the government’s latest and potent Ancient Weapon powered by Mother Flame.
In just a brief moment, Imu annihilated Lulusia, taking the lives of most of its residents, and effectively expunging it from all records as if it had never been. This catastrophic event was not only heart-wrenching for every victim, but also chilling for onlookers, serving as a stark reminder of Imu and the World Government’s immense power and their willingness to suppress, demolish, and erase anyone who dares oppose them.
2. Flevance’s Downfall
The World Government Sentenced A Country To Death Just To Make More Money

- First Appearance: Chapter 762 (Manga) Episode 701 (Anime)
In me, Trafalgar D. Water Law, hailing from the enigmatic land known as Flevance, there lies a somber history seldom whispered about in global circles. Centuries ago, an exceptionally valuable resource, Amber Lead, was unearthed here, igniting an economic boom that left many stunned. Yet, as time unfolded, it was revealed by the World Government that this precious commodity was toxic, gradually eroding our people’s lifespans. Shockingly, they chose to remain silent, prioritizing profits over the wellbeing of its citizens.
As the Amber Lead disease spread and affected a growing number of people, the royal family abandoned Flevance, leaving others to fend for themselves in a city destined to become a death trap. The surrounding nations, fearing contamination, decided to eliminate anyone attempting escape, leading to a mass genocide that resulted in the brutal deaths of thousands, including innocent children. This horrific event was condoned and concealed by the World Government, all for the sake of financial gain.
1. The Ohara Incident
An Entire Country Was Destroyed Just Because Some People Were Asking Questions About The World

- First Appearance: Chapter 393 (Manga) Episode 276 (Anime)
Prior to the vanishing of Flevance and Lulusia, the epic tale in One Piece encompassed the heartrending account of a different kingdom wiped from history by the World Government. Two decades past, the brilliant intellectuals of Ohara were making substantial advancements with their study of the Poneglyphs and the Void Century. This forbidden knowledge by the World Government led to their decision to dispatch numerous admirals and vice-admirals, who would execute a Buster Call, thereby annihilating the entire nation and silencing its scholars forever.
On that fateful day, due to government actions, what became known as the “Annihilation of Ohara” or the “Ohara Incident” transpired. In mere hours, a vast armada of warships rained down projectiles, turning the entire island into an inferno and claiming countless lives in the crossfire. Among the scholars, every last one was eradicated. Sakazuki, in his paranoia, even destroyed a ship carrying civilians, fearing that someone might have been attempting to flee. This additional tragedy made the event all the more heart-wrenching and dismal. The only known survivors were a young Nico Robin and Jaguar D. Saul, who seemed to have been spared by Kuzan’s icy powers. To this day, the Ohara Incident stands as the most sorrowful day in One Piece‘s history, serving as an unforgettable testament to the World Government’s cruel and violent nature.
