The Saddest Goodbye in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Belongs to This Hashira

This article contains major spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.

The approach of the global launch for “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” grows nearer with each ticking day, leaving fans on edge as they eagerly anticipate the fierce encounters between the demon slayers and Muzan, the upper moons, in a lethal night that promises bloodshed and heart-wrenching losses. The safety of all within the Infinity Castle is questionable, even for a powerful Hashira, who may soon take an emotional leave, leaving behind a poignant farewell.

Right from the start, the series “Demon Slayer” hasn’t shied away from character mortality. In a perilous world teeming with carnivorous demons, survival is never certain. This theme carries over into the Infinity Castle arc, where even formidable demons with lifetimes spanning decades can meet their end. Yet, to vanquish an Upper Moon demon or Muzan himself, there’s always a dedicated Hashira willing to sacrifice their life for the safety of others.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Will Say Goodbye to the Mist Hashira

Tokito Muichiro Will Protect His Comrades Until the End

  • The Hashira won’t be safe in the Infinity Castle arc.
  • The Mist Hashira will die at such a young age.

Possessing the Hashira title is undeniably an achievement, yet it doesn’t guarantee survival in every demon encounter. Though they boast strength surpassing many Demon Slayers, their duty is weighty; they must safeguard not just their fellow fighters but also eliminate powerful demons, often at the sacrifice of their own lives. Dying for others is a great honor for any Hashira, as their selfless actions have advanced the century-long battle of the Demon Slayer Corps with their substantial efforts.

In the arc of Demon Slayer known as the Infinity Castle, Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, is likely to experience that very situation. Initially, he won’t put away his sword in the opening chapter titled “Akaza Returns”. However, the subsequent films in the Infinity Castle trilogy will undoubtedly depict him engaged in a fierce battle against his ancestor – the formidable upper moon demon, Kokushibo, who is also the ambitious older brother of Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

I trained so hard that I vomited blood to destroy demons.—Muichiro Tokito

Previously, Muichiro Tokito was able to subdue a higher-ranking demon with an active mark, but overcoming the mightiest of them all, Kokushibo, is not going to be as straightforward as slaying Gyokko. This is because Kokushibo’s power level surpasses that of his contemporaries. In fact, even when faced with a group of four demon slayers including Muichiro, Sanemi, Gyomei, and Genya, Kokushibo manages to hold his ground. Nevertheless, it is understood that Muichiro will not shy away from any challenge, even if it necessitates him putting his life on the line for the safety of his comrades.

The Mist Hashira Will Not Regret Sacrificing His Life in Infinity Castle

Tokito Muichiro Will Finally Be at Peace

  • Instead of accepting Kokushibo’s offer to become a demon, the Mist Hashira will fight to the end.
  • Tokito Muichiro will sacrifice his life in the fight against Kokushibo.

Many characters in Demon Slayer fear death, particularly those who relinquished their human existence to persist as demons. Kokushibo serves as an illustration, having forsaken his humanity in pursuit of evading mortality and surpassing his remarkably gifted younger brother. Conversely, Muichiro Tokito differs from his forebearer, rejecting the notion of transforming into a demon, even when faced with unavoidable demise.

When Kokushibo proposed that Muichiro join Muzan Kibutsuji’s demon ranks, the Mist Pillar swiftly declined without a moment’s pause. He doesn’t feel compelled to transform into a demon merely to evade death or preserve his impeccable and stunning swordsmanship techniques. Instead, Muichiro remains committed to his role as the Mist Pillar without remorse. He will never let go of his Nichirin Blade until Kokushibo disintegrates completely and disappears entirely.

I was born to be happy.—Muichiro Tokito

Indeed, as shown in the Demon Slayer manga, Muichiro Tokito is determined to keep his red Nichirin Blade, even if it means being dismembered. This strategy would momentarily hinder Kokushibo’s movements, but at the ultimate price of his life. At just 14 years old, Muichiro will pass away, content in knowing he contributed significantly to the battle against demons and did his utmost to safeguard his companions.

The Mist Hashira Will Die With Another Demon Slayer in Infinity Castle

Tokito Muichiro and Genya Shinazugawa Will Die Against Kokushibo

  • Tokito Muichiro and Genya Shinazugawa will be the casualties of the Kokushibo fight in the Infinity Castle arc.

Regrettably, it falls upon me to share a grim truth: during our critical battle against Upper Moon One, Kokushibo, not only will the Mist Hashira meet his end, but also Genya Shinazugawa, my younger brother in arms. The same fate befalls Muichiro Tokito. Their injuries were severe, and it was unavoidable that they would succumb to their wounds. Yet, despite this grim reality, both stood firm to our pact, fighting side by side until the very last breath, all for the sake of protecting our fellow Hashira.

I don’t regret risking my life for my comrades.—Muichiro Tokito

In Demon Slayer, the absence of Muichiro Tokito and Genya might have led to the deaths of two of the strongest Hashira, as they played crucial roles in preventing Kokushibo from harming more powerful characters like Tanjiro and his companions before they could confront Muzan. Their valiant actions will not go unrewarded, as Sanemi and Gyomei are determined to carry on their fight against Muzan on the surface.
