This summer, after a long three-year rest, Netflix’s hit show The Sandman is preparing to wake up once more. Characters like Dream, Death, Destiny, and others from the realm of the Endless will reappear. Before the second season premieres, Netflix has given fans a sneak peek at two new characters: Puck and Destruction. The original graphic novels for The Sandman were penned by Neil Gaiman between 1989 and 1996, under DC Comics. Although a movie adaptation was initially planned in 1991, it faced numerous hurdles during development, and the project never came to fruition. However, in 2019, Warner Bros opted to concentrate on television production instead of films and struck a deal with Netflix to produce the series.
Thirty years after its graphic novel debut, The Sandman made its small-screen premiere in 2022, impressing DC audiences enough to secure a second season. Fans of the show were thrilled by this news and eagerly anticipated more of its supernatural fantasy stories. With The Sandman season two set to air on Netflix in two parts by summer 2025, it appears to be the perfect moment for both old and new viewers to revisit the enchanting realm of The Dreaming.
The Sandman Season 2 Serves up a First Look at Puck and Destruction
In July of the previous year, enthusiasts of the fantasy series have been aware that Jack Gleeson is set to join the cast of the second season of “The Sandman” as Puck. Recently, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled new snapshots of the character, along with Barry Sloane’s portrayal of Destruction. After over a decade since his infamous character in “Game of Thrones,” King Joffrey Baratheon, met his end, Jack Gleeson is now prepared to delve into another fantasy production. Puck from the “The Sandman” comics is depicted as a tricky and potentially harmful shapeshifter from Celtic folklore. As of yet, Netflix has not disclosed any details about Puck’s storyline in the series, but it appears that Gleeson will continue to stir up trouble wherever he goes.

Barry Sloane’s character, Destruction, has been given a detailed examination by fans. Known for being one of the most amiable among the Endless and leaning more towards peacekeeping rather than causing trouble, Destruction was initially formed as both the embodiment of destruction and creation in the universe’s inception. The ancients Greeks recognized him as Olethros. Fans might recall Sloane from his roles in the ABC drama series “Revenge” as Ser Adrian Redfort, a knight backing Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, or in “House of the Dragon.
Similar to how I eagerly anticipate the rollout of Wednesday season 2 on Netflix, I’m equally excited about the unique release strategy for The Sandman season 2. Just as they did with the former, the second season of this captivating series will debut in two installments. On July 3, 2025, the first six episodes will grace our screens, and on July 24, 2025, the remaining five episodes will follow suit. This strategic approach keeps me engaged and makes me want to prolong my Netflix subscription for a while longer, as it promises a continued stream of intriguing content.
