Someone familiar with the development of the next Sims game, currently known as Project X, has hinted that exciting announcements are coming soon. The Sims 4, released over a decade ago in 2014, has received a massive amount of downloadable content – over 100 different expansion, game, stuff, and kit packs. While some players have spent so much time and money on The Sims 4 that they’re hesitant to switch to a new game, others feel ready for something new after years of gameplay.
The Sims team previously announced they were working on a new game, codenamed Project Rene, which promised a shared open world for players. Many fans thought this would be the next major installment, The Sims 5. However, it turned out Project Rene is actually a mobile game, not a follow-up to The Sims 4. As a result, many in the Sims community now believe that The Sims 5 has been put on hold, and the developers are now focusing on a remastered version of The Sims 4, known as Project X.
Alleged AI Use Should Significantly Reduce Project X’s Development Time
Okay, so I’ve been following the Sims news, and it sounds like we’re finally going to get some official word about that Sims 4 remaster soon! Apparently, EA is using some AI tech – Stability AI, specifically – to speed up development. The rumor is they’re trying to keep it quiet though, probably because some players aren’t thrilled about AI being used in games. It makes sense, they don’t want a big uproar, but hey, I’m just excited to maybe get my hands on a remastered version!

Although these claims haven’t been proven, they seem credible because EA started working with Stability AI last October. Employees have said that EA is encouraging the use of artificial intelligence for tasks like writing code and creating artwork to speed up development. If this is the case, we might hear about Project X much sooner than expected, as AI could significantly shorten the development time.
How Much Does It Cost to Own All Sims 4 Expansion Packs?

Many players are looking forward to a remastered version of The Sims 4, but they’re concerned about whether their existing purchased content will transfer over. A big question is whether fans will need to buy all their expansion packs again, which could cost a lot of money. If they do, many players might decide to stick with the original The Sims 4 or even try a different game altogether. Being forced to repurchase content they already own could be a dealbreaker, even if they enjoy the updated look and gameplay.
Although it’s unexpected, Electronic Arts seems to be investing heavily in Project X, meaning they’ll need to find a way to make money from it. One possibility is that a remastered version of The Sims 4 could be sold like upgrade packs for the Switch 2 – only players who purchase the pack would get access to the updated game. However, much of what we know about Project X and the potential Sims 4 remaster is currently based on speculation and leaks. According to an insider, with the assistance of Stability AI, the project could be finished in about two years, so we won’t have to wait too long to see if these rumors are true.
