Players of The Sims 4 are discussing missing features, even though the game has been out for over eleven years. Some of these features were available in older Sims games, and others are just things players feel would improve the experience.
After EA announced they’ll keep supporting The Sims 4 instead of making The Sims 5 anytime soon, players have been discussing the game’s age and what the future holds. While The Sims 4 has plenty of content thanks to expansions and player-made mods, it still has flaws. Many players are concerned about the game becoming unstable, especially after big updates. But right now, they’re focusing on smaller details they’d like to see improved.
The Sims 4 Players Share Their Most-Wanted Features
I was scrolling through Reddit the other day and saw a Simmer, 1nternet-crybaby, ask what small things the game is still missing. It got me thinking! They specifically wanted a third name field so we could actually give our Sims nicknames, which is a brilliant idea. It really took off in the comments, and tons of other players started sharing what they wish was in the game too.
Many suggestions came from longtime fans of The Sims who miss features from previous games that haven’t been added to The Sims 4. For example, some players would love to see cars return, imagining Sims being picked up for school or work. Others fondly remember features from The Sims 3, such as being able to invite a whole household over or Sims randomly calling to invite players to events.
Honestly, a lot of the stuff people are asking for isn’t about bringing back old features from previous Sims games. It’s just wanting to make the game better overall. Like, everyone wants spiral staircases – seriously, why aren’t those in the game without needing mods? And it’s super annoying when you try to have a band practice, and all the Sims just play different songs at the same time, creating this awful noise, even if they’re all good musicians! I also saw someone suggest that twins or triplets should be able to blow out birthday candles together, which is a brilliant idea, and a lot of other players agreed with that one.
Many players would like to see changes to how relationships work in The Sims 4. They’re requesting separate relationship meters for each Sim involved, so one Sim can be more interested in another without it affecting how the other Sim feels. Fans have noted that The Sims 2 had a similar system, making it a reasonable feature to bring back to the game.
As the original poster pointed out, most of these requests are small, and many involve features that players enjoyed in previous Sims games. While the game can’t possibly include everything fans want, it makes sense to keep adding simple improvements and customization options, especially since the game is expected to be updated for a long time. Fortunately, when EA doesn’t add popular features, Sims modders usually do. However, it would be best if these features were included in the game itself in future updates, so everyone can enjoy them without needing to find and install mods, which can sometimes cause problems.
