The Sims 4 Responds to Broken Feature Complaints After December 2025 Update

So, the latest Sims 4 update in early December 2025 totally messed up the attraction icons in Create-A-Sim. You know, the little visuals that came with the Lovestruck pack? They’re just gone! It’s kinda annoying because the game seems to still remember what I’ve set for my Sims’ preferences, but not being able to see those icons is a pain. A bunch of us have already reported it, and thankfully the Sims 4 team at Maxis has acknowledged the issue and is looking into it.

Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs are a key part of the romance system added to The Sims 4 with the Lovestruck expansion, first released on July 25, 2024. This feature lets players define what their Sims find attractive or unattractive in others, affecting how well romantic relationships develop. You set these preferences in the ‘Create-A-Sim’ menu, but recent game updates seem to have caused some unexpected changes to how it works.

Maxis Acknowledges Inconvenient Sims 4 CAS Menu Bug

An update to The Sims 4 on December 2nd seems to have caused a problem with the icons for Sim attraction preferences in the Create-A-Sim (CAS) section. Many players have reported the bug on social media and the official Electronic Arts forums. A Maxis representative named Mindy acknowledged the issue on the official Sims Discord server, stating that they are looking into a fix and will provide updates when available.

How Sims 4 CAS Menu Currently Handles Turns-Ons and Turn-Offs

An update on December 2nd caused a visual glitch in the Create-A-Sim menu for the Lovestruck pack. The icons showing Sims’ likes and dislikes are no longer appearing correctly, making it hard to see which preferences are selected. However, players have confirmed that the preferences themselves still work as expected – you can still add or remove likes and dislikes by clicking on them, even if the icons aren’t visible. This appears to be a cosmetic issue only.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know there’s a little glitch in CAS right now where the icons for turning things on and off aren’t showing up correctly. The team is already looking into it, and I’ll post an update here as soon as I have more details. Thanks for your patience!

The problem in Create-A-Sim (CAS) is happening to players on both consoles and PCs. PC players have reported it occurs even without any modifications or custom content installed. Players have tried several fixes – clearing the cache, repairing the game files, and even reinstalling the game completely – but the bug still happens. While you can still choose traits and preferences in CAS, the process is disrupted. This lack of visual confirmation makes it particularly difficult for players who enjoy detailed, optimized gameplay or tracking romantic interests.

December 2025 Sims 4 Update Seemingly Fixed More Problems Than It Created

Considering recent reports and when they started, this bug almost certainly came with the latest game update—version 1.120 for PC and Mac, and 2.25 for consoles. While there are still some issues with the Create-a-Sim interface, the update generally seems to have fixed more problems than it created. For example, Sims should now wear clothes correctly, sleep won’t be interrupted by the radio, and teen Sims will keep their original goals when they grow up.

Update 1.120 fixes several visual issues with how textures and animations appear in the game. For example, a duplicated green color option on the “Arrrmed Living Chair” was corrected. Instead of simply removing the duplicate and potentially causing problems for players who had already used it, the developers added a new color variation. This led to the addition of two more colors for the chair, and those new colors were then also applied to the other eight items in the chair’s collection. The update also resolves several bugs that could corrupt saved games, including the one that caused the frustrating “Error Code 109” message, along with other improvements.
